Tonight I had a near miss, if it had hit me I would be in the ER right now. We get so use to what we do we can forget simple safety. Be it the chemicals in the product we use or remembering where the x-acto knife is before standing up!

be safe!

Always nice to have a reminder, but your photo isn't working.

Hyperlink works, inline is broken.

Not sure if that would have been ER worthy, something a bit of cleaning and superglue wouldn't fix, but maybe you have better insurance then me That is always freaky when that happens, especially since it's sticking in the wood so nice and straight.

If it had hit the nail I prolly would have done the ER. The blade tip was really stuck in the floor, and I have really good insurance . I stood up and heard this thump and looked down, phewww. Then said to the wife "grab my camera!"

Had that happen to me years ago.

Same style knife and blade.

Sank into the top of my foot to the ferrule (so about an inch).

I pulled it out, blood slowly oozed out of the cut (no gusher) some first aid and it was all good. You can still see the scar if you look for it.

I managed to sever a nerve in my finger when trying to push on a new scalpel blade with a pair of pliers.
My finger bone stopped the blade going all the way through.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Golden rule of x-acto blades.

within five minutes of fitting a new blade you WILL stick it into your finger regardless of how careful you're being.

i have before now stuck one down to the bone on my thumb, that was not pleasant, however it healed well.

i'll be honest i get this issue whenever i sharpen my knives/axes too, at least they're a nice clean cut with a sharp object.
