Introduction

This role play starts on the 7th July, 1956, roughly 1 year prior to the events of Resistance 3.

Earth has fallen.

Roughly 90% of the planet is under Chimeran control, humanity almost wiped out and all resistance scattered and without hope.

However, humanity is not totally defeated. In the ruins of Chicago, surrounding a massive Chimeran tower, a band of survivors hide out deep underground in the city's sewers. Every day is a battle. Chimeran patrols stalk overhead, looking for humans to butcher and turn in to one of their own kind. Much of the city is flooded. Food supplies are almost non-existant, the survivors instead relying on whatever they can salvage from nearby stores. Their last hope lies in destroying the Chimeran tower, allowing them to leave the area unmolested and join up with other resistance forces. But to do that requires tanks, weapons and people that they don't have. Nevertheless they continue, hoping that one day they'll find a device that will allow them to be free once more. This is their story...

Locations

The Sewers & Subway

The sprawling network of tunnels beneath Chicago is a dangerous place. Bombing overhead makes cave-ins common and much of it is flooded. The Resistance Shelter, 2 miles from the Tower and beneath what was once the city's financial district, is dry and comparitively clean. It encompasses 31 miles of sewer, or roughly 0.9 square miles of space, and houses 500 people. Surrounding it is a flooded area, and beyond that the greater sewer network and entrances in to the subway tunnels. It's one fatal weakpoint is the wall of rocks, 5 inches thick, at the northern edge of the base that seperates it from a flooded section. If the wall were to collapse, the entire base would be flooded and hundreds of people would drown. A small drilled section in the ceiling allows passage between the base and the flooded area without causing disaster, and diving teams commonly go through it in to the larger network. At the end of the flooded section is another tunnel that leads in to the dry section of the greater sewer network. A weapons cache is stored here, and clothes and armour for the dripping wet and cold divers. This allows the resistance to pop up almost anywhere in the city in full combat gear and is their primary strength. Chimeran patrols commonly enter the sewers, but the maze of tunnels often leads them in to a dead end or a death trap as tunnels flood or collapse. Worst of all, on the Eastern edge of the network around Union Station, the Cloven dwell.

The Financial District

The area above the base is, for the most part, dry, but by no means safe. The entire place is infested with Chimera and most buildings are ruins. Tower blocks and hotels are dotted around, providing ideal vantage points. The streets are a sprawling mess, with roads criss-crossing and being blocked off constantly. Patrols of Hybrids and Steelheads frequent the area, often supported by Stalkers, Titans and Marauders. The western section is flooded completely for about 3 square miles, with a network of bridges across the rooftops of the submerged towers providing routes through this place. If one were to slip from these bridges their deaths would be quick and painful, dashing themselves on the ruins below them before being torn apart by water-stalking furies and Chimeran snipers. Most feared of all are the dreaded Leviathens, let loose in any area a large resistance force is seen to be inhabiting. If you stay out there too long they will find you and step on you.

The Greater City

The main metropolis of Chicago is a desolate ruin. Grims infest the area, growing exponentially in number. Even the Chimeran patrols refuse to enter this death trap for fear the Grims will tear them apart. Unfortunately, this hell hole is rich in old stores and warehouses were the bulk of the resistances' food comes from and, using the sewer network, scavenger patrols venture there from man-holes, gathering what food they can before the Greys catch their scent. Often they don't return.

The Tower

The Chimeran Tower is the centre of Chimeran forces in the Illinois aea. It's surrounded by a quarter-mile "moat" of flooded streets, with a single bridge crossing the gap. This bridge is guarded by dozens of Titans and Stalkers and hundreds of footsoldiers. What's inside the tower is a mystery, though most theorize it to be a labrynth of hallways and rooms. Elevators and vents provide shortcuts through it, while long tunnels full of bridges and chasms are common. Penetrating the tower by a frontal assault would be impossible, as the most advanced strains of Chimera dwell within in their thousands-including the dreaded Angels. So large are the areas that Stalkers and Sabertooths can duel as they would in the open and entire companies can manouvre freely. These details came fro a single survivor of a failed assault on the building. He was obviously mentally scarred by what he saw within and commit suicide shortly after.

Chimeran Creatures

Playable & retinue creatures:

Armour ranks, in order of worst-best: Light, Medium Light, Medium, Medium Heavy, Heavy,

Note: These represent the standard loadout of each creature. Players can give them different equipment so long as it is suitable for their frame (e.g. a Hybrid or Steelhead can't use a Titans weapons, or vice versa)

Steelhead
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Steelhead
Role: Heavy Assault
Equipment: Auger, Medium Heavy Armour
Strengths: Tough, intelligent and hard-hitting.
Weaknesses: They're easy to dispatch at close range with Rossmore shotguns.
Steelheads are Chimeran heavy assault troops, able to absorb huge amounts of damage while vapourising enemies with Auger fire. Known to command groups of Hybrids. Can control Stalker, Attack Drone and Goliath vehicles.

Ravager
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Brawler
Role: Screening unit, Fire Support
Equipment: Plasma Rifle, Portable Shield, Brute Minigun, Medium Armour
Strengths: Extremely tough and powerful damage in melee or range.
Weaknesses: Little agility and unable to command vehicles, they are prime targets for snipers.
The Ravager strain is the largest Chimeran footsoldiers seen in frontline combat aside from Titans. There are two weapons carried by them; a short-range plasma weapon and a portable shield, and a 4-barreled minigun similair to the weapon found on Hellfire turrets. They often command smaller Chimera and usually aren't seen together, though often a Ravager Primarch or Overseer will command several of it's smaller brethren.

Long legs
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Long_Legs
Role: Harrassment/Sniper
Equipment: Ion Blaster, Deadeye, Medium Light Armour
Strengths: They are extremely agile, able to leap several metres in to the air and run fast. They pack considerable firepower.
Weaknesses: They are weak in a melee and will rarely let a foe get too close. Bullseye tags and Reaper carbines are known to be best at picking them off for their ability to track moving targets.
These mutated creatures are known for their annoying habits of keeping too far away from soldiers for Shotguns or melee weapons to harm them, but too fast for Snipers to take potshots at them. They can't command vehicles.

Hybrid
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Hybrid
Role: Basic Trooper
Equipment: Bullseye, Medium Light Armour, Bullseye mk. 2, Medium Heavy Armour (advanced).
Strengths: A good blend of strength, speed and armour.
Weaknesses: Low damage and constitution. HVAP Wraith cannons, Bullseyes and M5A2 Folsom Carbines are the best weapons against them, though most guns will do.
Known to come in large numbers, Hybrids make the bulk of the Chimeran war machine. Alphas command groups of Hybrids of the same strain. Can control Stalker, Flyer and Goliath vehicles.

Hybrid Scout
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Hybrid
Role: Basic Trooper
Equipment: Light Armour, Deadeye
Strengths:Very fast and agile, armed with a powerful sniper
Weaknesses: Low damage and constitution, even moreso with Scouts. Bullseyes and M5A2 Folsom Carbines are the best weapons against them, though most guns will do.
Scouts do the bulk of the recon work among the Chimera, and are also armed with snipers. Can control Stalker, Attack Drone and Goliath vehicles.

Armoured Hybrid
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Hybrid
Role: Upgraded trooper
Equipment: Bullseye, Medium Armour
Strengths: Tougher than regular Hybrids and well rounded.
Weaknesses: Low damage and slower than most Chimera. HVAP Wraith cannons, Rossmore shotguns, Bullseyes and M5A2 Folsom Carbines are the best weapons against them, though most guns will do.
Armoured Chimera are the more veteran counterparts to regular Hybrids. Though their armour is superior they still lack in weaponry, but make up for this with large numbers. Can command Stalker, Attack Drone and Goliath vehicles.

Advanced Hybrid
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Advanced_Hybrid
Role: Elite unit, defense for Towers
Equipment: Bullseye mk. 2, Medium Heavy Armour
Strengths: Devoted, elite and extremely well equipped, these are the most well rounded of all Chimeran units.
Weaknesses: None.
The Advanced Hybrids are the elite of the Chimeran force. They defend Chimeran strongholds to the last and are fearsome opponents. Can command Stalker, Attack Drone and Goliath vehicles.

Retinue only creatures:

Retinues may be composed of any number of the creatures above (within reason) in addition to these units below:

Recon Drones
Role: Harrassment, reconaissance
Equipment: None
Strengths: Extremely high numbers, large volume of fire, fast moving
Weaknesses: Individually weak
Drones are simple floating combat & reconaissance bots.

Rollers
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Roller
Role: Harrassment
Equipment: None
Strengths: Extremely high numbers, acid spray, fast moving
Weaknesses: Individually weak
Crawlers approaching the end of their life cycle become Rollers, gaining the ability to roll along at high speeds and spit a corrosive venom.

Brawlers
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Brawler
Role: Melee Support
Equipment: Air-fuel bomb cannon, Light Armour
Strengths: Extremely powerful melee attack and powerful crowd control ranged attack
Weaknesses: Unintelligent and susceptible to the explosive rounds of the Magnum or focused fire by the Marksman and Deadeye. May charge without orders.
These massive, gorilla like Chimera are the primary melee troopers of the army. They're capable of flipping tanks and hurling cars across great areas, and shake the ground as they walk.

Titan
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Titan
Role: Shock trooper
Equipment: Firestorm cannon, Medium Armour
Strengths: Extremely hard to take down, they can destroy entire units singlehandedly.
Weaknesses: Slow, sluggish and unintelligent. LAARK Rocket Launchers and Pulse Cannons can take them down quickly, and sniper fire to the cooling apparatus on the back can cause a massive explosion.
Titans are the strongest of all Chimera, bar Marauders, Widowmakers and Leviathans. They are often seen at the forefront of the attack, drawing the fire while the smaller creatures advance. They are rarely seen in groups of more than 4.

Marauder (Limit of 1)
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Marauder
Role: Storm trooper
Equipment: Throat mounted flamethrower w/ flammable saliva, Medium Armour
Strengths: Fast, extremely tough and the largest of Chimeran strains short of Krakens and Leviathans
Weaknesses: Not very agile and susceptible to falling and being uneable to stand back up.
These T-Rex like Chimera tower over Titans and step on their comrades for sport. Their sticky, flaming saliva inflicts horrific injuries and the ground shakes as they walk.

Each patrol may also be accompanied by any of the following vehicles, which may be piloted by the PC, so long as the force size still remains reasonable:

Stalker
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Stalker
Role: Mobile Weapons Platform, anti-air defense
Equipment: Ion Blaster, Missile Launcher, AA Autocannon, Laser Targetter, Shield Generator
Armour rating: Medium
Strengths: Well armoured, precise firepower and deadly weaponry.
Weakness: An exposed power core at the rear of the head, needed for cooling.
The quadrapedal walkers known as Stalkers are the backbone of the Chimeran armoured force. Terrifying against infantry and tanks, they have been known to be frequently hijacked by humans. This flaw was remedied with newer editions, however in Chicago where they believe resistance is little enough it is common for older, piloted models to join patrols.

Attack Drone
Role: Heavy Fire Support & Rapid Response
Equipment: Ion Blaster, Missile Launcher and Shield Generator
Armour rating: Medium Light
Strengths: Heavy firepower and extremely hard to take down thanks to hexagon-mesh shield.
Weakness: Each piece of shield destroyed means another has to be taken from the back to replace it, creating a hole in it's shields at the rear of the ship as battle progresses.
Attack Drones are heavy attack craft used by the Chimera to raid enemy bases and generally cause havoc. They are known for being hijacked once their shields are down.

Burrower Worm (comes by default for Chimera players)
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Burrower
Role: Underground transport, carves tunnels
Equipment: Drill, front hatch
Armour rating: Heavy
Strengths: Can't be targetted while burrowing, can navigate the sewers
Weaknesses: Useless above ground

Buzzard Dropship (comes by default for Chimera players)
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Dropship
Role: Transport shuttle
Equipment: Rocket launchers, Ion Blasters
Armour rating: Medium Heavy
Strengths: Fast moving, can easily navigate the city, fast strikes, close-range fire support
Weaknesses: Vulnerable while dropping cargo to missile fire

Non-Playable Vehicles
These vehicles won't feature in the RP, for now, but may enter later.

Goliath (limit of 1)
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Goliath
Role: Artillery & Mobile Spire launcher
Equipment: 2x Rocket Pods, Spire Launcher, Heavy Ion Blaster
Armour rating: Heavy
Strengths: Can crush most human tanks underfoot and pack tremendous firepower. Can infect entire cities with their spire launchers.
Weaknesses: Slow & lumbering, exposed exhausts at the rear of the head.

M-12 Sabertooth
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Sabertooth
Role: Main Battle Tank
Equipment: 120mm Smoothbore cannon, Coaxial Gatling Gun, Pintle-mounted .50 cal Machine Gun
Armour rating: Heavy
Strengths: Powerful anti-infantry and anti-tank firepower, very heavily armed & armoured
Weaknesses: Slow, lumbering and vulnerable to attacks by smaller, more nimble opponents.

Other Creatures

Grim
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Grim
Grims infest the city from end to end. The smell of blood draws in the horde, thousands upon thousands of them massing around fresh meat.

Widowmaker
These monstrous creatures stalk the city. Players can choose to encounter them, but usually I will introduce them as an event.
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Widowmaker

Fury
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Fury
Furies patrol the waters, ripping apart anyone unfortunate enough to slip in to the murky floods of Chicago.

Leviathan
If anyone misbehaves, if anyone starts godmodding, the Leviathan comes and steps on them. You have been warned.
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Leviathan

Cloven
http://resistance.wikia.com/wiki/Cloven
The cloven are the sick, twisted half Chimera that are the friends of no one. Drawn towards cutting themselves and cannibalism, their demented howling haunts the dreams of many a soldier. They are Russians, created by Doctor Fyodor Malikov's genetic splicing. His creation haunts him to this day. A coven of them, numbering a few hundred, exists around Union Station, 1.5 miles away from the Resistance base. Such is their ferocity that both sides in the combat avoid them. They are the damned souls who stalk the streets, moaning and wailing endlessly, searching for more blood to spill.

Chimeran Characters

Chimeran characters are for players who want to control a varied and brutal force. They're cunning, they're expendable and come in multiple flavours.

Human Characters:

Human Characters can be whatever you want them to be within reason. Many are scavengers, not caring about the fate of the Resistance force and doing whatever it takes to keep their food and life. They're best for creating a character with no boundries to what it can be.

Cloven Characters

Cloven characters are interesting to play as. They're friends of no one and will do whatever it takes to survive, including blood rituals and cannibalism. Whether they know it or not, however, they will play a big part in the story.

All players (of any race) can carry 3 Medium Weapons:
