In general I've found that ICs are overcosted and generally worthless unless they bring something pretty necessary to your army. For example I find that ICs that are non-psykers are overpriced, and only then if they are stuck with the appropriate unit. In general the only IC's I've found that are worth it are . . .

The main purpose of this thread is to stir a debate on HQs/ICs that are/aren't effective in the eyes of the DakkaDakka community.

Well IG command squads aren't ICs, they're just HQs. And pretty good HQs at that.

I assume we're not including special characters? Because if we were, then that would flood your list with a ton of good ICs. And I find that ICs are usually a good thing to have for your army, they make things funner and make the game a little more personal when you're rooting for your miniature avatar. I'll concede that they can get retardedly overcosted if you buy a crap-ton of upgrades for them though.

And the Autarch is only good with 10 Warlocks on jetbikes, as well.

There are some good C:SM HQ IC's imo they really add a good amount of force multiplier to the lists.

The Tyranid Prime is amazing (imo). ~100-105 points for a LW/BS, regenerating Synapse IC? Yesplz. At the least it's worth it to play wound allocation games.

Templar Marshals can be made incredibly killy for surprisingly low amounts of points, all the while giving army-wide Ld 10. Pseudo-EW helps too!
