Deadly Dire Avenger

Hi all I am about to place an order for my next FOC slot, personally im torn between dark reapers or fire dragons.
So far i have

Autarch w jump pack
Farseer
Warlock/spiritseer
Warlock/spiritseer on jetbike
20 Guardians(2 weapon platforms)
20 Dire Avengers
5 Warp Spiders
3 Guardian Jetbikes
5 Rangers
8 Harlequins (includes death jester and shadowseer)
Wave Serpent
War Walker
Wraithlord

what is badly needed here so far i have not needed transports and my main opponents are Nids, Space wolves, Chaos, Tau, Ork and Guard (most often Guard and Wolves)

I used to Run Imperial Fists.... Till I took a Bright Lance to the Knee.

First off, get yourself an AOBR set. This'll give you a Warboss, and some choppa boyz. Then go with a battleforce box. transport and bikes, more boyz. Nobz box, and start looking for trukks and battlewagons. Before long, you'll have a full waaagh started

Uhhhm Taurinus he plays Eldar

You have a mixed bunch of opponents. VS low armor (potentially high numbers) things like Orks, Guard etc, Reapers are sub optimal. They do shine however vs Chaos/Marines assuming they are on foot/you can pop their transports.
I see you have one Wave Serpent. What do you put in it? If you arent pushed with whats in it, get the Dragons in there. It will give them great manouerability and allow them to tank hunt better which is their primary role (although they are also very good vs high armor, high T models).
Foot slogging Dragons arent completely unviable but their short range really handicaps them. However with them buried in your foot list they might do ok.

I'd probably gun for the Reapers based on what you have to date.

I know, I was being a jerk cause there wasn't anything about what army in the topic

More Guardian Jetbikes? 3 is never enough. Actually, I have an old Harlequin jetbike that I'm converting. I just cant decide whether to put my Warboss on it(warbike....and he's so heavy it can't lift him and operate like a jetbike).....or strap it on the the back of a nob to make him into a stormboy!

Seriously though, I am not strong with the Eldar codex, but if you say that you haven't needed transports then mobility hasn't been an issue for you.

See, I don't play eldar, but I'd lean towards Fire Dragons. With the exception of 'nids, the armies you play against are quite often laden with vehicles. Against MC's of 'nids, they'll definitely be tacking wounds onto them.

What do you consider your weak area?

Staying on target.....

Reapers for the simple fact you play wolves and who doesnt love AP3

Also would you not be tempted to get more wave serpents next, especially since you have so much footslogging? Both DA 10 man squads zipping about, jumping out and bladestorming would be pretty nasty

Well, I'd take Fire Dragons. Mount them into a Serpent and point towards an enemy tank. Then move the Serpent forward, let the FDs disembark (when the Serpent is close enough), and you'll see that the FDs will get the job done.
I wouldn't consider DRs. In fact, they are Marine killers but there is cover almost everywhere these days.

Thanks guys so far I'd say anti tank is my biggest problem so far as both marine lists are not troop heavy the CSM are Tanks and the SW'S are mostly bikes the guard player is i think Praetorians (Six/Eight Tanks)
Right now mainly use Harlies for Tank busting but sometimes they are lost after one tank my autarch is with the spiders and has a fusion pistol and the one time my warlock stuck his spear into a rhino and popped it

Automatically Appended Next Post:
honestly i was planning on getting two more tanks soon after choosing a unit. Probably either 2 Falcons or a Falcon and a Prism/Spinner, about the Spinner has anyone used or seen one used? Ive read its rules it looks a bit meh

Not sure on the armor units. It sounds like Fire Dragons inside your serpent though

the problem with Reapers is that they'll get focused quickly because their reputation precedes them. I personally love fire dragons, put them in a wave serpent and they're devastatingly awesome. but it all comes down to what you want to do with your army.

I feel like you should get an Avatar...

You need a lot fewer purchases to get a solid foot Eldar army going than you would to get a solid mech eldar army going- like HUNDREDS of dollars cheaper...

An Avatar, Eldrad, Harlies, 2 Wraithlords, squadron of scatter war walkers, and a swarm of guardians with scatter laser platforms and a conceal warlock or 2 will go a long way to giving you a good synergized list.

Scatter lasers on defender squads can help with anti tank, bright lance + missile combo wraithlords can help as well. Same with scatter laser war walkers. Very good at killing tanks.

So for I'm leaning toward dragons, maybe followed by more spiders then a Falcon so i have a small unit transport for dragons and large transport for an Avenger squad.
I like the look of the Avatar and Fuegan and would like to know which would be better from those with experience of both
But I like the Autarch and Farseer, So which is safer to lose as i find them both vital when i play (for Doom and Warp Spider kill team)

Go with the dragons, as they are essentially 16pt melta murduring demons of death. My brother bought them just for the models, read up on their rules, and now uses them every time, against any list I run... and they can even chew through monoliths ... So for your own good, go with the dragons.

Anyways, another vote for FDs.

A reason why not to take DRs? They're gun-line, vulnerable to Scouts, bikes, Deffkoptas, anything DE , StormRavenG based assaults, etc. 5e is fulla Cover Saves making only the Exarch's Crack Shot certain death. The Reaper's AP3 is largely hosed.

As further encouragement...
Fire Dragons, especially if you are having a hard time with armor.

Dark Reapers are great, I've been on the receiving end of them with footslogging marines and ouch! But if they are meched up they might not be as effective as the Fire Dragons will be.

Well... he pretty much just pelts away at it, and eventually it falls to the ground, and suffers ~6 weapon destroyed, and then finaly it wrecks. maybe an explosion if he is lucky.
