Yeah so uber short notice but this Sunday some friends are hosting a tournament to help the owner of out LGS. All the entery fees will go to help him and his wife with some issues. I'm not 100% sure I want to do DE since I know of at least 1 if not 2 other people who will be playing DE. I'm tempted to do IG instead. So if someone can give me a list instead for 500 points of Mech Guard (I don't know blob that well). I'll entertain that as well.

Here is my DE list though...

HQ - Haemonculus 50 pts

Troops - 5 Warriors
1 Blaster
Venom w/2 Splinter Cannons 125 pts

Troops - 5 Warriors
1 Blaster
Venom w/2 Splinter Cannons 125 pts

Troops - 9 Wyches (Haemonculus joins them)
1 Razorflail
1 Wych is a Hekatrix with an Agoniser
Raider w/FF 200 pts
Total 500 points.
Pretty much a small version of Venom Spam, but it's what I know the best. The issue I have is only 1 long range anti-tank gun and 2 short range ones. I know there isn't alot of mech at 500 points but with potentially 2 other DE players they can run simmilar stuff as well.

As for the IG list:

HQ - Company Command squad
Lascannon
2 Sniper Rifles
80 points

Troops - Veteran Squad
3 Melta Guns
Chimera w/hull HF
155 points

Troops - Veteran Squad
70 points

FA - Vendetta
(Veteran Squad with no weapons goes in)
130 points

Elites - Marbo
65 points

Well this has more umph and Marbo and a Vendetta in a 500 point list.

You helped me come up with that list...especially Marbo.

If anyone can help...with those armies or I guess even SM/BT it can be considered.

I reckon drop the snipers from the CCS and turn the Veteran squad (the one without upgrades) into a penal legion squad. They'll do more coming out of the vendetta, hopefully. Especially if you roll the rending one (knife fighters I believe?)

The problem with that is that you cant assault out of the vendetta if it moves so if you just hop them out they would most likely get shot to bits before they could assault. also if you move that close to the enemy what is stopping them from simply shooting the vendetta or assaulting it them self because again you got too close.

True, I just figured they'd do better than a vet squad because they could get an ability which would make them a bit better in combat, compared to vets who would just get shredded in my experience

Would shotguns or FRFSRF work better and leave them out of CC?

This is another IG list you might think of running.

CCS total 275
Iron hand straken 95
2 bodyguards 30
medi pack 30
regimental standard 15
las pistols for vets for free
chimera free HF 55

vet squad 145pts
2 meltas
chimera

vet squad 80
autocannon

It gives you some cc and range plus anti mech

So I've also added in this BT list to the options...grr I don't like 500 point games but I want to help. C&C welcome as always of course.

HQ - Emperor's Champ w/AAC 140

Troops - 5 Initiates
Lascannon
Plasma Gun 101 points

Troops - 5 Initiates
Lascannon
Plasma Gun 101 points

Troops - 5 Initiates
All have BP/CCW
1 Neophyte w/ BP/CCW
Rhino 156 points

Total 498 points

This has as many troops as my DE list but with Space Marines!!! I think deployment will be key, and I'm going to use the EC as a super sargeant for the CC Initiate squad.
Thoughs?

As to the CC lists. I kinda want to keep the CC to a minimum with the IG. I just don't feel comfortable getting up close like that if I can avoid it. Thanks for the suggestions though guys!

Put a searchlight on the rhino. You won't be able to find much else for under 2 points, and it is nice to have just in case of night fighting.

Also, might want to consider dropping the neophyte to give frags to your rhino squad.

I doubt they will be within 12" of the CCS for FRF,SRF. Disembarking counts as moving so it screws up the Rapid Fire element of the lasguns. Shotguns are probably better for an 'assault' Vet unit. Be careful of who you assault, but you could do CC if you had the points for a PW to help do some damage.

If you don't mind doing a unorthodox Vet gunline list...

CCS - 90pts
LC, Vox, Standard

Marbro - 65pts

5 Storm Troopers - 105pts
2x Melta guns

Vets - 140pts
3x Plasma guns, LC, Vox

Vets - 100pts
3x Sniper Rifles, AC, Vox

500pts

Form a 'gunline' in cover with your two vets and your CCS. I honestly can see these guys being back like 6" from the table edge on their set-up to force the opponet to march through as much firepower as possible. Keep both Vets within 12" of the CCS for a morale re-roll from the Standard and for Orders. Issue 'Bring it Down!' to the LC units for vehicles or MCs. The Snipers/AC are /really/ effective against MCs, specially if they get 'BiD!'. Voxs give you a re-roll for any Orders you want to give. Marbro and STs give you rear area trouble making. The STs can use different 'special operations' depending on the foe and the amount of vehicles. Scout or Infiltrate could be /really/ effective in 500pt battles.

This list is alittle weird for me and has alittle bit of everything, but I am confident it can work if your dice hold up. The CCS first had just a LC and 2x Plasma guns, but I wanted a Vox and one plasma didn't look great, but then I figured a Standard would be more useful for the entire line for morale purposes to at least give a re-roll.

Good luck!

Wow now that is a different take on things. It looks effective. I never would have considered voxes.

No Marshall to give them better LD?

CC squads needs frags, Initiative 1 charging through cover takes the piss, trust me.

IMO you should drop the EC and get a Marshall with Frags, Melta Bombs, LC/SS and get Frag Greanades for your CC crusader squad.

Curses I forgot about not having frags. Ok so I took your advice and now I have 6 Initiates with frags in a rhino with a searchlight and EA. Does that sound workable?

Yes. That does seem workable. Don't forget that you can't assault out of the rhino if it m.oves. I've made that embarrassing mistake myself. And I would agree with dropping the EC for a marshal, as LD 10 for your army rocks. In addition, if your rhino gets destroyed, LD10 will help you RZ towards the enemy and assault faster. Also the vow only benefits o.ne squad
