Since Ghazghkull Thraka is a major special character should he only be painted as a Goff? Would it look weird for him to be painted as Death Skulls?

You can paint him pink if you really wanted to. Paint schemes, for the most part, don't affect the rules.

It's conceivable for another Ork clan to have a similarly badass warboss. It's Thrakka's cousin, Warboss Ghuzgkull Thrukka, and he really likes purple.

Agreed, paint him however you want. Everyone thinks their clans boss is da biggest, so who cares right? Da ead rippa, is the same as Gutstabba McFly, as Captain NutzNboltz, as da Goredrinka, as Eyeballz da Scallywag, as FingaPincha da Tyrant uv der Oomies, as Ghazghkull Thraka.

They all use the same rules bud

Personally I've been leaning towards painting special characters in there respected colors. Nothing stopping you from doing otherwise though, but I mean, if my company commander became famous, I'd imagine he's always be shown wearing the same outfit.

Do it that way, and thats fine. But fluffwise, Thraka would NEVER lead a BadMoonz army. Ever. Never ever. But, some made up Warboss that is also huge and very powerful, say comparable to Thraka, that happens to BE a BadMoonz boss, well now he would lead a BadMoonz army

Thraka could very conceivably lead bad moonz and I am certain he did for the invasion of Armageddon. He keeps his old Goff buddies as his subservient bosses to remind everybody who is in charge, but there absolutely are Bad Moonz in the largest WAAAGH! ever seen by man.

OT, paint him how you want. My orks are full of xmas cheer and painted up in red and green with snowy bases and candy cane axes/boss poles. Wazdakka stops by on occasion, as does Snikrot, and they always get dressed up to celebrate the season!(WAAAGH!mas)
