I was at my the local GW, painting models, swearing under my breath, accidentally painting my thumb catachan green, the norm for me, when someone brings up religion. The manager decides to start ragging on theism in general, and then started comparing the Imperium of Man to the Catholic Church. Yes they have similar build structures, with arches and what not, and the whole "heresy" during the Spanish inquisition wasn't a pretty time, and is somewhat comparable to the whole "HERESY *BLAM*" kind of think (okay, maybe a lot comparable) but then He decides to stop comparing, and just go on a rant. The more important points were "Religion caused the dark ages" and "God is just a figment of imagination. By then he was getting dirty looks, but he continued on. I couldn't take it, so I packed my things, called him a few unpleasant words, and left. I assume I'm banned from the store.

I guess what I want to say is: Don't get your politics in my grimdark.

Religion is a hot button issue for many, as it goes straight to their core beliefs, moral compass, world view, ect.

Talk via phone or walk in the store and see if there is anything you can resolve with said person about your respective views, as such since it caused an issue find a middle ground.

Just don't go assuming you cannot or are not allowed in the store. Be honest and at least find out before you presume your banned.

I doubt you were banned from the store.

People get away with worse all the time.

I got into an agruement with my Store manager because I called the Grey Dreadknight a Baby Carrier. Rofl.
It was funny.

I think people have called the Dreadfail a few other names that possibly have caused other heated arguments.

I don't go to my FLGS, because all my friends are gone its now boring because everyone plays marines.

I guess so. He hasn't been the forgiving type before, which is unusual, since the employees at most other Games Workshops have been pretty cool.

Don't let stuff like that bug you. Or calmly ask him to take it outside if you feel strongly about it.

Probably not banned though...and if you are for some bizarre reason, well, they don't deserve your business there then anyways.

If you are banned, just start a store next door that sells warmahordes.....that'll teach 'em

Whoa, matty, when in the hell did I bring up the debate of whether or not religion is right or wrong? I was just talking about something that happened to me. I'm not even that devout, I just felt that issues such as religion should be left outside the workshop, and now I get hate.

I did go back the other day. He was a little pissed, but we ignored each other, so it was ok.

I then did say something, giving the opportunity to say something back, and we could have us a small back and forth and still be pals about it.

I am a 'protestant christian' despite going to church a grand total of ten times (when my cousins dragged me there). I just stay off religion in general, it irks me when people proselytize.

Frankly no manager of any business should be spouting off politics/religion/anything which is going to make customers feel uncomfortable and lose business for his store. That is just piss poor management. I bet his district manager would not be happy to hear about it.

Agreed, call the district and let them know how this manager was acting. I bet youll not see the guy in there anymore. Weather your for religion or not, actions like that are completely un called for
