The bases are as simple as it gets.
Slap on some red and blend it while wet with some black, you do not need to be too cautious because the stars come later.
After that take and old toothbrush or a drybrush dip it into white paint and sprinkle it over the base, presto starfield done!
(Better to practise 1st...)
