I have decided to start a blog for my never before seen catachans, as I have just uploaded them to the gallery yesterday
also, i have some 1:72 scale infantry (and a half track) to fight as a platoon of "lilliputians." The fluff is that they're abhumans (haven't gotten much farther than that: don't know enough about abhumans), and i am mounting them on various pieces of detritus to fix los issues. i am doing this for the pcs's half track chimera, too. I don't plan to run this in tournaments, and the two most likely spots for me to play seem to be ok with non-gw figures in 40k (they both sell them, and one of them even has a 1/35[?] scale, wheeled, apc-looking thing right next to a baneblade, and painted in the same colors as an imperial guard army in a display case).

yellow platoon pcs so far (note the lack of metal paint on the chimera, and the fact that the stripe is blue. i have to change that...)


yellow platoon, squad one. I still need to make more guys for the squad, like the pcs, but i have buttloads (4 decent-sized sprues) of the little guys. also, it was only ten dollars, which is kind of why I decided to go with lilliputians in the first place


manticore! i think that it will be from the admech. this one also needs proper metals. note the tech priest and servitors.


marbo conversion. he is basically about to kick a demo charge at one enemy, while shooting the other. i think that i should change his headband, as he is not really a part of red platoon.


extra guys: a sniper, a standard, and a psyker (bonus points to whoever can identify the psyker).

And that's my army so far, and all before buying the codex. I used the tactica and the unit summaries in the dakka articles section, but i will probably get the codex next weekend, if i get some cash

Your terrain is freaking AWESOME.

I like how Glom photographed his troops on the weedy walkway...looks like an overgrown ancient jungle ruin...sort of what I was thinking for Catachan-specific terrain.

@glom, can you please spray prime some of your conversions and then take closeup photos? It's hard to see them under original paintjobs (I know man, most of mine were rescued from someone else's attempts at painting)

As for the fresh paint on conversions, those will be addressed, soon. Just to let you guys know, i use modelmaster brush primer, and I don't think i'll be switching back soon! (except maybe for large vehicles, though small things like the half track worked ok).

@bebop: I work on terrain a lot too, along with my 6 other 40k armies, and my 2 fantasy ones . But don't worry; I think that the Catachans will be "on the front lines" for a while, along with my chaos orks.

The transport for my first pcs: note that i have yet to paint it. I just got it out of the bargain bin the day before yesterday. It was $11, so i think that i will write XI on some part of the tank, to mark my triumph over gw prices! Btw, I actually used store credit from star wars minis and mtg cards


Red platoon, squad 1. I am planning on naming every single guardsman in my army, and nobody is going to stop me! Hahahahahahahahaha!


This guy will be a counts-as al'rahem: he is unfinished, and i have some "smoke" to glue to his plasma pistol.


This is the first member of a pbs: He is not finished, but here is the progress (maybe i will loosely base the members of this squad off of harry potter characters: as he looks like he might pass for ron. If you agree with this, please see your optometrist asap!)


This is blue platoon's command squad.The commander is from the same blister as the counts-as al'rahem (who will command yellow platoon, but is currently guarding some shotguns for meltavets- not pictured)


My ccs. They are led by a pompous, arrogant aristocrat who is guarded by an ogryn that his parents adopted so that he could have a brother. Most of the ther catachans hate him, except for a few, who pretend to like him because he is rich, and in charge. the ogryn counts as nork, and the staff car is a chimera.


This is my banewolf (way too big, but hey, it was only $8- maybe i should paint VII on it ) I will paint the chemicals purple, and the fire from the hull weapon will be, well, fire colors. note that it is not yet painted.

So, that is what i have to show right now. If anyone wants to see single models or other angles, tell me which ones you want to see, and I will post them.

And his ride. Remember how I got a chimera for $11? This is it, still needs work, however, but now it has my paintjob, instead of one from somebody else.

Well, what I have been doing is mixing kitchen herbs with static grass. I will probably add more vegetation soon, though. I think that I need to find a better way of sticking the stuff on, though: it seems to fall off a lot.

Alot of people use a fineliner for writing on banners, but then again I use my brush with a fine tip and watered down paint. Also break it down in dots and connect the dots. Practise makes perfect!

Btw on those earlier pictures DAMN your desk is messy!
