Depends. If you only want to basecoat them, you could use the spraygun - although colored primers could be cheaper.

For everything else, a real dual-action airbrush is better suited. The initial cost might be higher, but you will save money in the long run, as well as gain many more uses for your hobby tasks.

Absolutely not. The GW spraygun is trash. Wouldn't use it even if it were free.

Oh. I just wanted it for basecoats. Primers make more sense. Would just using a normal spray paint, lets say red, be okay as a basecoat? Or does it have to be a primer?

I have used regular spray paint as a primer for years with no issues. I have even sprayed a basecoat with no undercoat, however, I did notice a difference in the vibrancy of my models so now I always use a black or white undercoat before basecoating. Hope that helps.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.

Primer is best for priming rather than a normal spray paint

I use the spray gun on a compressor where it works well. I generally prime my minis before and thin the GW paints with concentrated screen wash for good results.

The cans are the problem, you need to run two or three and change whenever the pressure starts dropping (due to them getting cold with expansion) which is a pain, and also true for all the other guns that use cans.

It will never give you airbrush results, but does base coats nicely.
