Hey guys,
I've got to get started on this Fortress of Redemption. However, I don't want to use a lot of my expensive GW paint on the big, flat surfaces. I'm thinking of picking up some Liquitex acrylic paint, soft bodied. Anyone worked with this stuff before? I know I'll probably need to water it down.
Thanks!

You mean These?
In this one the bike is all Liquitex and the rider is GW.
Everything in this picture is Liquitex, it's a color test but you get the idea. The gold is Ltex Basics not soft body.
I've also shot Golden Liquids, and the cheap craft store colors. Golden and Ltex are the best pretty much equal in quality anything down from them is a significant step down.

I've probably seen it a million times.
My memory is somewhat ...poor...
I took an interest in the purple you used though as i'm doing my emperor's children in a similar colour.

i have a number of these sitting in a drawer. How are you thinning them? water, floaid? matte medium? to get a smooth consistency? Can you share your ratios as well? I'm fond of the black except for the fact that it sometimes dries shiny.

I thin with windex, color matters a lot for thinning I start at 1:1 and go from there. The magentas are surpassingly opaque so they end up about 2:1 windex to paint. Umbers I thin 3:1, metallics too but thats to get them to spray. The Liquitex paints give a very smooth consistency, and they do dry with a gloss, I add about 1/4 measure matte varnish to make a satin coat if it bothers me, but only after thinning.
I got mixed up in there somewhere, mixing is equal parts for making them just thin enough to spray (red and yellows) and thinning them more to stretch the paint ( brown, grey, purple). Kill the shine with matte additives. I prefer varnish because it will dry more clear than mediums which in larger quantities will lighten paints, especially black. BUT there is an ultra matte medium from Liquitex worth a shot in making gloss black dead flat.
