Subject: Finding a Princeps

Hi all
I've been doing some reading into Titans lately, and I was curious about something.
How is a potential candidate for Princeps/moderati found, and then trained?
Now, going through all the old material, we know:
>They are not recruited just from the Legions Forgeworld, as acceptable candidates are incredibly rare
>They need staggering willpower and affinity with the MIUs
Other than that, I can't find much.
So, how do you chaps think they might be recruited, and what sort of training would then happen? Obviously indoctrination into the Omnissian Cult goes without saying (assuming they even recruit from non cult members).
I suspect the locating of candidates might be simliar to Astartes methods, thouigh ofc focussing on alternative attributes. ie, combing worlds for acceptable people (probably young), holding some sort of trials, then proceeding from there.

I think there are noble families within the Mechanicus which train Princeps from birth, similar to Feudal Knights.

This probably, that way they can train from birth so they can be super computers.

I'd like to see some source material on this as well. Dont have the 4th ed rule book, but Lexicanum cites it for this:
"A Princeps is trained at the Collegia Titanica. Unlike most of the Adeptus Mechanicus personnel, Princeps recruits are not only selected from the Forge Worlds' own civilians, but from anywhere the Mechanicus may find suitable candidates. This is because only the strongest of will can sustain a mind-link with the Titan's powerful spirit with their sanity intact, and the rarity of such specimens requires a larger selection pool."

So, I cant read the original cited text, but this shows noble house is not a prerequisite, and trained from birth doesn't have to necessarily be true either. Although, certainly training would likely begin at a young age, and a noble house may produce a large number of princeps, this is only conjecture though, so it is certainly not the end all be all of the situation.
Never read Mechanicum, but that may, or may not, you'd have to ask someone who has read it, have something of what you are looking for.

You know, that's a good question. Titanicus doesnt really go into it, which is all I've really read up on Titans. But, it does have that one Princeps who was about 16 or so.
Anyone know if the Titan comic goes into it? Or maybe the Epic rules books?

Mechanicum doesn't seem to cover the selection method.

Well, I went back through my OLD stuf last night, including the original Adeptus Titanicus and Titan Legions, nothing in there. Haven't checked the Codex Titanicus yet, will do that later. Also definitely nothing in either Mechanicum or Titanicus the novels.
So far, the Lexicanum info is all I can find.

They do train some from birth, but it isn't required.
It seems like they take them as they find them.
