Subject: First Space Marine List Ever, 1,500 Points

Note that I'm not in a competitive meta with this list, just a bunch of college kids playing together.
Today I made my first 1,500 Vanilla list ever. I love Drop Pods, Dreadnoughts, and Sternguard mostly because Chaos doesn't have them (or reliable Dreads). Here goes.
Master of the Forge
Pedro Kantor
Scouts x5- Sniper Rifles
Scouts x5- Sniper Rifles
Sternguard Vets x5- x5 Combi Melta, Drop Pod, Locator Beacon
Sternguard Vets x5- x5 Combi Melta, Drop Pod
Sternguard Vets x5- x5 Combi Melta, Drop Pod
Ironclad Dreadnought- Drop Pod
Ironclad Dreadnought- Drop Pod
Ironclad Dreadnought- Drop Pod
I figure that this might take a friend by surprise the first time I do it, I'm just using Chaos models till I figure out the codex and spend money. Lot's of melta is here, and the Sternguard are scoring and all have the special ammo. Pretty basic strategy if you ask me, just shoot to death then get the Dreadnoughts into combat. FA 13 is crazy on a walker, Krak Grenades? Oh no! What does Dakka think?

For friendly game, this seems like a fun list to run, I like drop pod heavy lists
but for some competitive advice, use space marines instead of sniper scouts.

Lots of things I dislike feature in the list. However, I think the way you have done them means the list will work well.

I'd want a missile launcher and camo cloaks on those scouts, even if you do have to drop a few bits to squeeze this in. Locator beacon is worth one ML.
If running MOTF, who I assume you won't be dropping in, then I would give him a conversion beam and sit him in ruins with a scout squad.
Maybe trim those combi-meltas or drop one dread down to a normal one from an ironclad ...
