Hello all!

This is my first attempt at a space wolf list. I have been looking through the codex and came up with a rough list. For reference I play in a strictly friendly setting with one opponent only over a case of beer. I'm not trying to get smoked but the absolute optimal list is not my goal. This is my first time playing marines (Powerblobbin' IG) and I'd love to hear thoughts before running out and blowing my new army budget on crap. This list will be going against Dark eldar primarily, orks on occasion.

Rune Priest: 120
Terminator armor

Wolf Guard: 114
3x Terminator with Combi melta

Grey Hunter Squad A: 175
10x Grey Hunters
2x Plasma guns
Power Weapon

Grey Hunter Squad B: 165
10x Grey Hunters
2x Melta Guns
Power Weapon

Long Fangs: 115
3x Missile launcher
1 Lascannon

Total: 689

I've now got 111 points to play with and I'm not sure where to put them. It'll probably be more then that once you kind folks have helped trim the fat. As you can see I've left out transports, on the one hand I am worried about the mobility issue, but on the other I'm sick of tanks (again, ex IG here). Is it viable to play footslogging space wolves?

Any and all advice/criticism welcome! Remember I'm a Space Wolf virgin here.

You could go for drop pods or wolve mounts. But no buy some rhinos.

Get yourself some scouts. It is always a toss up between the free melta and having a wolfguard leader to grey hunters, usually I go for the leader which will mean you can add a CML to your wolf guard squad.

SW excel within 24" range. So yes mobility (especially against DE) will be a problem. Drop pods won't help because after you have landed you're footslogging again.
If you are really against tanks that much you can do Loganwing which I understand can be competitive. Haven't played it so won't be able to comment on it but there are loads of Loganwing lists on the net to get the jist of it.

Good Luck!

If you're not going to take tanks I suggest:
Swop the 2xMelta's for Plasma's - You won't get in range with the Melta's.
Swop the Power weapons for MotW. You get more attacks+rending thus in the end more kills.
Swop the lascannon for a ML in your Longfangs and add 2 MM Landspeeders.
