I just changed my army list around with a few suggestions and I have been stuck as to how I should go about changing my weapons on my battle suits without destroying them. I have heard that you can magnetize parts of the arms and was wondering if anyone knew how to do that.

Items you may need are a dremel or pin vice and small magnets. The magnets I used are something like these

You can Google search or e-bay search for the size you need. The prices are quite reasonable, the second link is the size of magnets I used, however I am not sure if that is the seller I bought from.

As for installing them, I used a dremel and drilled out a hole the same size as the magnets to where they would sit flat or slightly below the surface. A little putty on the edges and sanding to make the surface smooth, in some pictures you can still see a little circle where the magnets are but it is hard to tell if you are not looking. I think it is better to have the magnets set in a little to far and fixed with putty rather than sticking up a little. Be careful to keep the polarity on the magnets all the same so you can change the load out without having weapons be repelled! I had to pull out a magnet and turn it around once and it was a pain! You may want to use a sharpie and mark all the magnets you are going to use on the same side to avoid confusion.

Here is a suit I did (based on a suit seen at Adepticon) you can see a little circle from the magnet on his right arm, but it will usually have a weapon on it. I plan on repainting it one day....maybe when the Tau get updated.

So I got the dremel and some small magnets. My first difficulty is removing the weapons that are already attached . Any suggestions on how to do that? I also have several other parts I need taken out to make them look authentic. But your battle suit looks great!

An extremely sharp exacto knife may be in order. If you used plastic glue this is your best option as the parts will be fused together as 1. The position of the arms make this a toughy in that case as well, as you need a solid surface under the parts you want to separate so you do not break the arms at the narrow point (DO NOT try this in your hands). I use a rocking motion with the blade teetering between the two parts I want separate being careful not to have anything under the blade I will miss if it gets lopped off. If you used regular super glue some time in the freezer will make the glue brittle and you may be able to just pop off. I hope you used regular superglue as it will be easier to separate without cutting your digits or the model.

I am unsure if the search function works on the forums again, but I am sure there is a tutorial for magnetizing tau suits if you are looking for pictures of the process. I think someone also sells kits for tau magnetizing using ball bearings on the arms and stuff, but your suits are already past the major assembly stage.
