Hi there! Ive been drafting up a 2k DA list. Its not ment to be the MOST competitive list but not the worst possible list either. Running just TH&SS DW is not an option tho. With those restraints do you guys think that there is anything obviously flawed with this army?
HQ:
Belial (TH&SS) = 130
Troops:
5xDW (5xTH&SS, CML, Apot, Banner) = 290
5xDW (2xTH&SS, CML, CF) = 240
5xDW (TH&SS, CML) = 245
10xTacticals (MG, MM) = 185
Rhino = 35
Elites:
Dread (TLLC+ML) = 155
Dread (TLLC+ML) = 155
Ven.Dread (PC+HF) = 150
Heavy:
ACHB Pred = 95
ACHB Pred = 95
Fast:
Landspeeder Typhoon (MM) = 75
Landspeeder Typhoon (MM) = 75
Landspeeder Typhoon (MM) = 75
Typhoons and a Tac squad for some melta in the army. Dakka dreads for dakka and quite a few missiles for mech. Im considering changing the Dreads to AC dreads with flamers, thoughts? Im also considering dropping a Speeder+Dread for a LRC

I would give some LC to the DW.
Keep the TL las. it is relatively cheap and complements the abundant missiles well.
Otherwise fine but why the tactical squad? Not sure why you want it. Go for a 5 man lazerback with melta and melta bombs for 180.

I think I will be going for two shooty squads and a counter charge unit. I guess I can take a pair of LCs in the shooty squad but I feel that the counter charge unit will be much better of with plain TH&SS.
As for the tacticals. I think 10 tacticals (while sub par) can provide some needed volume of fire. The MM is still good at >24" so I can project some threat from the rhino.

The LC helps out against orks seeing as your termies are part of your antihorde threat.
Your tacticals are amazingly subpar. Also they ruin target saturation: you are only giving ap2 weapon targets i.e. termies and tanks, ignore the typhoons for now.
Plus if you have three you can DWA two units, I find this is good against Tau. Or suicidal assault just one and still have two left to play with.

I most certainly agree that DA tacticals are sub par. They are even more sub par than their vanilla counterpart. That said Im not sure a Lasback is better than the Rhino variant. You can project some melta threat while bunkering down and they would bring some volume of fire to the table. Im also not really sure what you would do with the pts saved. I guess you could use it to upgrade your dreads to Ven.Dreads.
All in all I think it will do OK, maybe not great but ok.

I have reworked the list a little. Dropped the tactical marines for anoter squad of termies. Droped a dread and a typhoon for a LRC. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't go with the land raider. You have a lack of models already and you do not want to tie points down like that. The landraider will have nothing to run with and protect it. Also essentially it will not make your army more mobile, you already move 6'' and shoot and the raider will be shot up pretty quickly. If you need to have unit the otherside of the board use DWA otherwise 5 turns is enough to walk and shoot to where you eventually your units.
The preds could probably do with lascannons but depends on the landraider. Also the typhoons are too cheap just to take 2, they never fit into a list but you never leave at home.

Hmm, yeah. You do have a point. I lose something like 5MLs and a Lascannon in order to take a LRC...What do you think of this then? I really dont want to go down the extreme cookie cutter path but I guess it is getting pretty close already.

Vindis can move 6" and shoot just like the termies. The termies can also provide cover for the Vindicators. (assuming the enemy doesnt have too many blasts which would force me to spread out). The Typhoons, termies and ACLC Pred will make it decently shooty from afar and the Vindicators+Dreads will make it quite potent in the 24" range.
So, better or worse?

I would not worry about the cookie cutter. Most people take 5 TH/SS as troops and Belial with LC for I5. Then CML and typhoons are forced as they are so cheap. The rest of the supporting units you have are a mix of what is available. This is what happens with an expensive limited codex.
