Been playing with this in my brain plus on Dakka, and think I'm getting somewhere with it. Would appreciate some further comments from you guys. I have 10 points spare, and am considering dropping the Chimera with the second Infantry Platoon command and finding 5 points to take a Lord Commissar to sit with the Lascannon squads. Comments on that especially welcome.

The general plan is to outflank with Creed's Squad, Al-Rahem's platoon and the Sentinels. I see the second Infantry Platoon Command Squad with the flamers as a rapid response unit, but am concerned they'll just get iced as the only tank to shoot (don't fancy many surviving an exploding Chimera!). That squad has to be there to keep the Heavy Weapons Squads separate to the outflankers.

Anyway - the list:

Company Command Squad 1
Castellan Creed
4 plasma guns

Company Command Squad 2
Lascannon
2 Plasma Guns
Astropath

Infantry Platoon 1

Al'Rahim

You need to have at least two infantry squads in your 2nd platoon.

If I swap the plasma guns for meltas in Creed's squad I could stick Autocannons in the 2 "spare" infantry squads. But that does drastically reduce the firepower from Creed's squad, although it would still be enough to kill a tank...

Is Creed really needed? That squads costs 200 points. Just give Al'Rahim's command squad plasmas as right now they aren't doing a whole lot. That's 140 points saved. Don't forget that he gets 2 orders/turn as well and can also issue BiD.

Consider splitting that big blob into two smaller ones. It gives you more flexibility and reduces the chances of being tarpitted when you need them. On your blobs those krak grenades aren't really all that useful. Meltabombs should be fine. You may also want to add in melta guns to take advantage of Al Rahim's orders.

What do you have in mind for Harker's squad? Those melta guns will have a hard time getting into range. Best use I've found for him to infiltrate him into cover with 3 plasma guns and an extra heavy bolter. This squad puts out stupid amounts of fire and has a sweet cover save. Not the most competitive choice, however, the squad can add some much need mid-field firepower to support your outflankers.

Any leftover points should be used to buff out your 2nd platoon as right now they are just wasted points. You'll need to play a few dozen games to figure out whether you like heavy weapons inside the squads, giving more staying power and stubborn ld 9 (w/commi) for orders, or your hws setup which is more fragile and but more plentiful guns as well.

The thinking with Creed's squad vs Al'Rahem's having plasma is that Creed's are BS4, Al-Rahem's BS3. Al-Rahem himself is clearly a combat guy so the plan would be to outflank the platoon and Creed, Creed can issue for the honour of Cadia! on the blob if there are just troops to kill - I see these guys jumping on any tanks at the back of the board - that's what the krak grenades are for... Creed can also issue bring it down on his squad, and for the honour of cadia on Al-Rahem.

Harker's squad can be a couple of things. I can sit on an objective on my table with 3+ cover save, and go to ground until people get close. I can infiltrate somewhere annoying or outflank. Plasma guns would indeed be much more effective. Might have to find some more points somewhere for that.

Thanks for the feedback though - once again very thought provoking!
