I'm running a basic Weirdboy and I'm looking for people with experience playing him. I've only used him once and I rolled 2-3's a lot. So I was very lucky.

The points are at 500P so I figure he can be destructive at those points. Anyone with experience to tell me how he handles on average.

2 rules with a wierdboy:

1) put him in as big a mob of boyz as you can as his psychic ld test is affected by mob rule
2) upgrade to a warphead!

the boyz are also great recipients of any of the powers you could role.

Warphead costs to much, I would assume with good Placement you could only lose a boy if you roll a one. And possibly the Weirdboy.

I was also wondering about Taking the Ard case off the Boomgun and getting Two big Shootas for the unit. Not sure though since I would kill 10 GEQ's over the Six turns, but Ard case would make it a 33% Chance of Dying instead of a 50/50.

If you are using the wierdboy in a boyz unit, yeah, 2 BS in that unit with the wierdboy would be points better spent as you will not be running in the shooting phase in order to use the wierdboys powers.

killing 10 of anything in a 500point battle is a huge chunk, and you can guarantee against guard that big shoota boyz shooting every turn will get their points value back manyfold. definitely a good swap at 500 points

i must say though, a 105 point boomtank is a huge and vulnerable investment at 500 points. its over 20% of your army, and will likely be the only viable target for all of his anti armour as i doubt youd be planning any more armour?

...i dont think it would survive turn 1...

against guard, 3 lobbas or kannons would be points better spent if you want long range ordnance support, but i dont think youll need it at that points level. 7 lootas for the same cost would be far, far more effective against guard as the AP 4 works against them unlike marines.
of course im assuming you have the necessary models!

He is too risky at 500 points.

In fun games at 1500 points or more I field a warphead and I find he usually earns his keep though clearly there are better HQs.

I could always change the list.
I require a Tank no more than 115P.
What would you pick.

Well, i would say, no matter whst, upgrade to a warp head... but besides that...
For the tank, i would run with a BW, with the gun of your choice. then, if you have extra points, put some big shootas or rokkit's on it.
I have played quite a few small games (500 pts) and BW's have always helped a lot for a few reasons
1) The enemy will usually dump huge amounts of there heavy fire into it, which means that you will not be getting hit by it, and also, there is usually not many heavy weapons in such small games
2) it can be mobile cover for your squad.
3) If your weirdboy dies, they can hop in it; but this is not the best choice...

i must admit i probably wouldnt take a tank or transport of any kind on its own at 500 points in reality id stock up on lootas.

if you defo need a tank due to model constraints or personal taste, id probably go with a proxy battlewagon with a kannon, a big shoota and a rokkit as a heavy firepower option that can shoot any type of enemy infantry or armour (remember kannons can be krak or frag) and benefits from 14 front armour and the ability to fire the kannon after a 6" move unlike the boomtank. also no silly dont touch dat rule
in a 500 point battle thats a VAST improvement over a boomtank, and one that many foes wont have the troops or gear to bring it down in a 500pnt game if you are clever with front armour positioning.

Or id take the looted wagon with a skorcha , as its only 50 points base, 55 with red paint. if you can start off a small burna boyz unit (5 = 75 points) in there with he spare 60 points, and it survives, then it is lethal and you also managed to squeeze in another unit that (hopefully) lives even if the wagon snuffs it

A battlewagon with Zzap Gun?
A tooled up Deffkopta could do.
Bigbomm Buzzsaw and Rokkits.

Arrgh the choices.

If a kopta will do then there is your answer.

Go for 9 kannons with ammo runts. Could you convert a tank gun into a kannon would that fulfil your needs?

Is there anything preventing you from simply taking two kanz for those points? They are walking mini-tanks, after all and Grotzookaz tend to be devastating at very low point limits.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Well, I'm planning on 3 Lobbas but using a Basalisk to count as them, showing the Crew and making Markers to show the three Lobbas.

Sound reasonable? I would also have space for more Orks and would have 50
