This may be a stupid question but I'm new to blood angels so I'm gonna ask away. Is there any reason to put or not put jump packs on a regular assault squad inside of a storm raven, I understand if you have the jump packs on it limits the amount of models you can take inside. So I guess I am asking does anyone keep the jump packs on their unit and why? Thanks ... O and I plan on taking a furioso dreadnought along for the ride

I have started running 2 stormravens with my mech list (razorbacks). I also take a 10 man assault squad with 2 meltaguns (with jumpacks). I combat squad them and put 5 guys in each raven (2 meltas go together) with a JP priest in one and a jp libby in the other. Now I have 2 mobile scoring units if they lose their ride.

Furioso Blood Talon dreads can ride along as well for awesome punchy punchy.

If you take the packs off, you can fit all ten in and have 2 special weapons and room for an IC. If you go with packs, you can only throw 7 (?) in I think, so one special and no IC. Not exactly sure if thats the correct capacity.

Correct each jump counts as 2 and it has 12 man, so you could put 7, but im wondering if there is any benefit to doing this other than having a mobile troop after they disembark from the raven

I've used Raven several times late game sanctuary for under strenght assault squad. if you wat to move these from objective its much harder when you have to take out the raven first. It's not faster way to move them since SR can't turbo after embarking.
Sadly the raven is rarely functional in the late game.

only if the IC's dont have JP's.

otherwise it is 6. You should only do this if you plan on not running the IC with the Jump Squad. I can't really think of a situation of where you would want to do this.

I think stormravens are an interesting way to transport the death company. This get around jump pack issues.

CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT!

The bonus to jump packs in a raven is te Skies of Blood rule.

A JP with that means DoA is in effect and you don't take that nasty dangerous terrain test.

Then you can assault, and things get REALLY fun.

(Assuming you play BA, otherwise I got nothing)

If you disembark via the Skies of Blood rule, you can't assault that turn. You will usually be better off sitting the the Stormraven, hoping it doesn't blow up. If it does, you can probably get out anyway unless you're really surrounded.

I like to put a small assault squad with meltagun infernus pistol in a storm raven. Turbo it up first turn next turn you disembark and you are basically in melta range of target vehicle.
