Allso, at 500 points there isn't going to be that many tanks on the field. Two lascannons and two meltas might be overkill and will force you to go into CC for anti-infantry. Might want to think about switching to a flamer or twin-linked assault cannons.
This is actually a common misconception. Since you are gearing up for a competition, you should actually be expecting to see *a lot* of tanks. My Friend's Imperial Guard list contains 3 Chimera, his Dark Eldar list contains a Ravager, a Raider, and a Venom, my Eldar list contains a Wave Serpent and 2 War Walkers, and even your
BA list contains 2 Razor Backs!
Anyway, on Tuesday we were showing my gf how to play the game, so we did some 500 point demo games, the first was
BA vs Eldar- with her controlling the
BA. The second was just a quick game between me and Derrick to showcase 2 more armies, this time me as his
DE, and he played his 3 Chimera Guard.
After some quick negotiation about his
DE list (I had no idea what anything costs, and still don't, but I knew what I wanted
lol). In any event the list we came up with did really good. My anti tank dice were hot though, so that might have had something to do with it. But I'll post the list here as I think its really solid.
Homunculus
9 Wytch- Hexatrix, Agonizer, Haywire : Raider- Flicker Field
5 Warriors- Blaster : Venom- Extra Splinter Cannon, Flicker Field
Ravager- 3 Lances, Flicker Field
or at least that's basically it. I'm pretty sure everything had Flicker Fields, but I could be wrong. The point is you've got anti tank ability spread throughout the army
The other question is versatility. Strong 500 point lists function through versatility. You could be facing anything from 2-4 tanks or
MCs, to over 60 ork boyz on foot. The best of both worlds is to have weapons that can both do well against large numbers of foes, and tanks.
My Eldar list for example crams in 7 shuriken cannons and 3 flame templates. With versatility in mind, I would consider assault cannons instead of Las Cannons on those razors. s6 rending with 4 shots is better than a single s9 shot against transports, and it gives you a better gun to shoot into an ork mob. Since 500 point games are usually played on a 4x4 board... the shorter range isn't as severe.
Also I almost think you'd be better off going for a jump infantry themed
BA list. Most good opponents will be ready to deal with tanks, and not ready to deal with a bunch of furious charging,
fnp assault marines.
