Hi, I've just started playing 40k and am planning to expand on my AoBR orks. I've noticed that the lootas/burnas kit only comes with 4 deff guns. If I were to glue like 3 plasma/melta guns to each other and bind them with copper wire would anyone take issue to letting them 'count as' deffguns? Thanks.

That's proper and orky - actually that is how lootaz made their gunz in the first place. I actually went around the shop with my first lootaz and asked various people to identify all the weapons those deffguz are made of. One lasgun-looking part of a ldeffgun even sports half an aquilla.
If it looks even halfway decent, you should be fine and have no problems.

Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.

Yeah, I was thinking maybe make the ork kind of hold onto a chaos plasmagun and then add the other two guns since the chaos weapons tend to include bayonets and stuff. And orks LOVE bayonets. My only fear is that someone will throw a stink over it being held like a rifle and if perhaps I'd be better off basing them off of a shoulder mounted gun, like a SM missile launcher with either a plasma gun or a couple of shootas strapped to it.

Aesthetically. I'd prefer shoulder mounted, but your plan has definite merit.
I'd try to rig up some kind of backpack power unit as well, with plenty of cabling.

Any ideas on something I could use for a backpack? I'd prefer to keep the burna tanks to make a bodyguard for my burna-mek, but yeah.

Don't worry about what other people think. This is a game about imagination. If anyone has a problem with it ask them to point out the rule that state that you can’t convert something, there isn’t one. Remember “the most important rule” actually printed in the rule book is to have fun. A buddy of mine wanted his lootas to look as if they had just lifted stuff off of the battle field, so they have elder shuriken cannons, lascannons, assault cannons, and all kinds of stuff. I even played against a guy who used McDonald’s straws for his ork rokkit launchers, orks use junk so it’s all good. Look at some of the forge world stuff for them it all looks like it is made of scrap the orks should build things out of whatever is lying around, not just the limited imagination of the GW sculptors. Remember have fun and don’t but up with anal people, it’s a plastic toy that you paid for; you can do what you want with it.

The meks from the burnaz/lootaz box have an awesome backpack with a grot sitting on it and amunition spilling out. Just use that one

I was more worried about down the road having people call me out for it at tournaments and such.

Mate if you put 6 bolters, a squig, 2 lasguns, a saugage and a stick of dynamite on a crossbow and give it to an ork it's probably a Strength 5, AP 4 assault 20 weapon as far as the ork is concerned!
So no one (who's not a douche and has a brain) will argue. GW have always encouraged orkz to be as kit-bashy as possible and I only think it adds to the artistic flair.

You don’t have to worry about that. Only the tournament organizer can tell you what you can and cannot have, not other players. Also there are no rules saying “only use GW premade no imagination kits”. Orks build stuff out of crap they find laying around, no two ork weapons are really the same, that the beauty of them your own imagination is your only limit.

A deff gun, as per codex, is a random assortment of looted weapons stuck together and fixed with some duct tape. If you stick random weapons together and give them to an ork, that's even WYSIWYG for a loota. Not even TFG has a case against you.

As a side note, I'm now thinking of doing a loota with 6 bolters, two lasguns and a squig as his deffgun.

Well, a TO could say something if the model has so much 'non-GW' pieces that it ends up hardly being a GW model at all anymore. But that's only likely to happen in a GW sponsored event, and those are few.
On top of that, since the OP wants to use GW bits to make the guns, I really don't see an issue.

It's ork. You can do anything.
The old Kombiweapons were a lot like this

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Of course the only issue with this is that I need Tau Fusion Blasters. As is all I have are miscellaneous items from the SM and CSM sprues and a friend who I can bribe with delicious beer and nuts who plays IG as parts supplies.

I was slightly lazy about it with my Lootas (namely, I found something I liked and built 8 of them ) but the way I made the fifth Loota work was to build the Mek holding both the Big Shoota and Kustom Mega Blasta, since both are one-handed weapons. The way I figure it, it is Ork thinking that by lighting bullets on fire, you can make them stronger. Plus:
KMB: Strength 8
BS: Strength 5
Halfway point is 6.5, which rounds up to 7.
KMB: AP 1
BS: AP 5
Subtract 1 from 5 and you get AP 4.
KMB: 24" range
BS: 36" range
Add 24 to 36 and you get 60", but since Orks can't count, add 24 to 36 and you get 48.
As long as you use good old Ork logic, you can't go wrong.

I've just finished assembling a box of lootas myself for Waaagh Dakka (Shameless plug). What i plan on doing for the 5th Deff gun is just cobbling the 3 mek weapons together.
