Hey guys,

Having an issue with figuring out exactly when boneswords activate instant death test.

5 2 wound models equiped same take 3 wounds from boneswords. How many tests do they take and at what point do they take them

5 2 wound models equiped differently take 3 wounds from boneswords. Same question.

With wound allocation I've confused myself.

The bonesword test is after saving throws. So:

A. One dies normally, one takes a test.

B. None die normally, three take tests.

In both cases, as soon as the saves are failed you take the tests, if the MW models fail the tests, you remove them as they will have suffered ID wounds.

Example 1: 6 2-W models are identical(1 has already lost a wound), and 3 wounds are dealt from boneswords. Either the 2-W models have no Invul Save or fail their invuls, you then take 3 tests, failing them. 3 whole undamaged models are removed(per the units of MW model rules on page 26 of the BRB) leaving 2 undamaged and the 1 with only 1W left(so 6 wounds were dealt by the Nids).

Example 2: 6 Diversified nobz(1 already has 1W removed) take 3 Bonesword wounds, you allocate the wounds to the Nobz(2 on undamaged nobz, 1 on the damaged nob), they take their invuls and fail(or they did not have Cybork bodies and thus have no invul), they take the tests and fail as well, you remove those nobz you allocated the wounds to(so 5 wounds were dealt by the nids)

Slowpoke: the Bonesword specifically interrupts the wound resolution process; nid dex page 83, Bonesword, second sentence of second paragraph: "In addition, if a model suffers 1 or more unsaved wounds in close combat from a tyranid with a Bonesword, it must immediately pass a Leadership test or suffer Instant Death."

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

A Tyranid weapon, any models who are wounded by it have to pass a Ld test or suffer instant death.

Monstrous creatures ignore armor saves in CC so you don't get FnP anyway.

Boneswords ignore armor saves in CC as well, so no FNP on a bonesword hit.
