My friend and I pretty much argue about this all day when he isn't bitching about how bad his Eldar suck (boo hoo hoo) so give me some input.

They are both in the top bracket. A top notch BA list VS a top notch SW list would only be seperated by the players skill.

It depends. Tactic wise?

Sure, tactic wise or going solely on their units if possible... Go for it...

I play neither of these armies.

AFAIK:

Blood Angles have nastier characters
Blood Angles do better Razor spam lists
Blood Angles get better melta spam
Scouting Flamestorm Baal Preds are fething awesome
Blender Dreads make Necrons cry

Space Wolves can take missile launchers off the wazoo
Counter-Attack makes less of a need for dedicated CC units
Cheaper heavy weapons

Personally I prefer BA for both playstyle and looks.

Don't forget Space Wolves have their Wolf Knights Riding Wolf Bears. While BA have nastier character, Wolves have the better and more useful overall librarians. Blood Angels don't really do better Razorspam . . . they just have faster, more expensive ones.




They really are the same in all aspects, save for a bit, but general playstyles even are the same.

Space Wolves are pretty much the stupidest, most broken codex GW have ever produced. Their units are just flat out underpriced by a considerable amount. BA are tough, but at least they are expensive.

SW have more units with unique, Chapter-specific bits for me to prefer their models, as they all use the SW bits without needing an extra purchase.

But tactics and flavor-wise, I go Blood Angels all the way. Their speed and variety of strengths also generally make them a very competent army (they have the most potential to match DE for speed, but are more resilient).

The Tac equivalents aren't just useable, they're better than many CC specialists with more options than Tac's, and cheap to boot (while their sergeant equivalents end up 15-20pts cheaper after kit than everyone else's sergeants cost), while the army has the best psykers in the game (both in a cost effectiveness way and probably absolute power as well) coupled with the most powerful/cost effective and very cheap fire support unit in the game and more customization options for HQ's than any other book. Yeah, not feeling too bad for the SW's because TH/SS termi's aren't the auto-spam unit they are for C:SM.


There's a reason SW's were the most popular army at the last adepticon, and why most of them were bandwagon hopper armies, and it's not because a huge number of players suddenly fell in love with blue/grey colors and wild 80's rocker hair.

Space wolves just because they aren't as OP and mainstream as blood angels. They aren't crazy and have pretty cool fluff. Gotta love counter charge too! Even the average tac squad can hold up pretty darn well in combat.

Let's not forget to mention that Mephiston is the most retardedly OP hero to ever exist, I've seen him used by a much less skilled player against and army of orcs who tactfully infiltrated the BA lines, killed just about every single BA unit and then could not take the hero down in combat. Pretty ridiculous.
