Has anyone else noticed just how ridiculus the blood knights are? They work out to around £12 a model, they are in the crappy resin that games workshop is forcing down our throats and as such come bent and deformed. Finally to add insult to injury they only come with 2 lances so if you want a regement of 10 as I do you need to either buy 4 boxes instead of 2 to get the lances or use lances from other kits which look stupid as the blood knight lances are huge and long compared to other models lances. I must admit they are very nice models and I can (with effort) get myself to buy them at my birthday and chrismas as a present to myself. A staff member in games workshop informed me that blood knights are so expensive to represent how elite they are in the game but if we look at chaos knights for example there stat lines are almost identical with the chaos knights even classing as special instead of rare. I can see no reason at all that they couldn't have been made as a plastic multi part kit such as dragon princes, bretonian knights, orc boar boyz and even the very similar chaos knights.

Because they were made at such a time where metal cavalry were still being done as a regular occurrence.

At that time, Dragon Princes and Chaos Knights were metal riders and metal bits to fancy up the plastic horse for that race.

What's more is that Blood Knights were available in blister format, and under the metal pricing structure they were priced as "character" models due to all the metal they had.

Do they need to be made into plastic?
Maybe, if they get made into a Special choice.

What they really need is a price drop and the 'generic' Blood Knights to be available again as their own set.

I really could live with the price of the things if they only gave you all the correct options for the models in the box, they are only missing 3 lances after all.

That box is the exact same as the original, all metal box that was offered.

Full command+2x rank and file troopers.

Problem simply is that there's no way to get the rank and file troopers by themselves.

I have to agree with Kryz on this one. It is a bit of a ball ache just to find the right looking lance, you would think for the price that they would atleast consider that some people do actually want to have more then 5 Bloodknights in there armies. Just seems a bit silly if you ask me.

If the price is such an irk (which come on its GW, all their products these days are ridiculously overpriced) then just convert some Bretonian Knights into Blood Dragons with a bit of greenstuff or the odd skeleton warrior part. Its really down to how much effort you want to put in, but before the newest edition of the army book Vampire Knights didn't go about draped head to toe in bat wings...they looked like European knights... with a hint of grimdark....and didn't fret about getting their eyes poked out by their pauldrons. So yeah, gripe about GW doing what they do best these days, or just convert up some (relatively) cheaper minis. =/

Mantic games do some nice blood knight models and they are alot cheaper then GWs.

Ive seen HE dragon princes painted up as blood knights and they look really good I dont even think they need any conversions beyond a bit of sanding here and there.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

Black Knights certainly were not just European knights. If anything they epitomize the silly skulls and batwings aesthetic.

I imagine the Blood Knights will eventually be plastic (though probably not with the 8th ed VC update), but in the meantime Dragon Princes, Chaos Knights, and Bretts all make excellent stand ins, even if you don't convert.

Yes, Blood Knights are reknown for being the most ridiculously prices set for almost 3 years now.
Gamezone makes alternative models, which look better but are for experienced gamers only, being fragile and not easy to handle.

I wouldn't say look better.

GW Blood Knights are worth it if you have one of them as your Lord. Then the unit is about 700 points for $80, not a bad deal at all.

And the fact that we can't field many of them in our armies at 55pts a pop and rare choice sux even as hard as the price. I own about 20 of them, pre-finecast, and since new ed. lost one great banner and the best unit I use got nerfed.

That's...depressing. I hope you didn't buy them new!

They're cheaper, but they're not nice. They look like supermarket toys.

They look incredibly terrible! I'd rather spend £61.50 then actually use them models

In my cave, lying down and waiting for you...

The Blood Knight models are awesome but price is freaking ridiculous. I've once seen a perosn who had thoght on buying some Blood Knights but when he got informed by the price, he reconsidered pretty fast. And as for the mnatic versions, I think they are just too toyish and cannot be taken seriously.

Well, I think the Dragon Princes of Caledor from the High Elves are suitable for them.
