Ok I’ve been play testing a GK drago wing. Nothing new there. But I’ve focused on MSU.

Here is the deal, as we all know large squads of paladins are hard core over kill in almost every situation. But when you combat squad of run units of 5 you seem to have cut your survivability by far more then 50%.

What I’ve been trying out are 3 man units. Very basic one hammer, one staff, one sword. The number one noticeable problem here is the horrible lack of ranged fire power altogether, As I cant pick up Psycannons. I feel this has been resolved with the use of a vendicare.

After the spam of MSU paladins I add in a libby, tech, and a single paladin with your choice of a staff or a hammer to attach all the IC and drago to. Then mounted the IC bomb in a bird. You get the idea….

I’ve run this at 1500 and 1750 with great success. The over kill of 2++ saves is a killer in the current meta.

As for the games, all played against competent players (not trash freebies, green players or “friendly” type mentality)

DOA - killed 4 modals and then was wiped out

BA mech - killed 6 modals to a major victory

Mech IG - wipe out

Bugs - 2 modals killed to a major victory

On an on, but I’m getting tiered of typing them all out, but a few lists I haven’t played and may cause a bit of trouble from what I’ve found.

Orks may just have way to many numbers to deal with. My only true def to them are 4-5 holocaust blasts.

Mech DE I feel are going to be able to retreat form my threat zone early in the game and just take pot shots for 6 rounds.

Any comments, questions or advice is more then welcome. This is a work in progress and any help would be much appreciated.

I can see it doing very well against MEq, but can also see it getting swamped by hordes - how hordish was that nid list you fought?

How are you not getting torrented down? I can understand overloading the 2++ invuln being helpful in melee but 3 models is 3 models ...

I thought about this idea a while ago.
But I think going two more models to unlock special weapons would be better.

i'll never understand how the draigo lists work...... (agree to dissagree i think).

are there any gk players in you local group - they'll mess up your nice shiny paladins in short order (force weapons, rifle dreads, vindicare for the warding staff, etc)

if you're gonna run them, i'd have thought that this is the best way to do it:


draigo - 275

libby - 200 (after giving him many many things, diddnt work it out just a guess, i'd suggest a staff and a few powers)

10 paladins - 625
- 3 psycannons

10 paladins - 650
- 4 psycannons

(i seem to remember paladins getting 2 psycannons per 5 guys, if not more stuff or even another couple of paladins)

total - 1750pts


gives you loads of firepower, some nice combat and 46 wounds (lots for a terminator army!!!). this army sat in cover with shrouding is the best way i've seen to use them - barring opposing gk players but then you're on the defensive from the start.

If you take Draigo and a libby, you'll only get about 15 palladins with them in 1750, if they are all kitted out differently.
