Hey all,

Looking to get some feedback on a Beastmen army list I put together before I go out and drop a bunch of money on the models.

Heroes
Bray Shaman - Level 2, Dispel Scroll
(135)
Wargor - BSB - Heavy Armor, Shield, Gnarled Hide, The Beast Banner
(206)
Wargor - Heavy Armor, Great Weapon
(93)

Core
30x Gor Herd - Full command, Additional Hand Weapons
(265)
22x Gor Herd - Full command, Additional Hand Weapons
(201)
10x Ungor Raiders
(60)

Special
30x Bestigor Herd - Full Command, Manbane Standard
(425)
Razorgor
(55)
5x Harpies
(55)

Total - 1498

Just my 2 cents

Looks pretty good. I would drop the wargor and shaman for a GBS with a ward save and maybe crown of command, stick him I'm the beatified with the banner if disc giving you a leadership 9 bubble for primal fury. I would combine the gor to a 40 man unit and split the raiders in 2 units maybe with a musician. Any left overs increase the bestigors and/or add a 2nd razorgor. A level 1 might be viable with a dispel scroll.

Thus, After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the supreme power then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence; it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd

Is it possible to take the Lord choice shaman at 1500pts? I wasn't sure about that so I wrote him out of the list. I do see the point in splitting the raiders though.

Splitting the raiders mean you have two 'fodder' units for deployment, 5 raiders to use for beastman ambush if your enemy is using war machines and the like, and makes them harder to kill off all in one go 'tis my experience of them, anyway.

And you're allowed to take Lord choices at any points level in 8th edition, the Beastman army book is outdated on that bit so just ignore the bit about choosing characters on page 81

Yes up to 25% of your army. I like my GBS like this:
Great-Bray-Shaman- Level 4 -Additional Hand Weapon -Crown of Command -Hagtree Fetish -Talisman of Preservation 339
So 4+ ward, crown of command to give bestigor stubborn in case they have a bad round 1. Why Hagtree Fetish? Because I like the Lore of Death, and The Caress of Laniph and the Fate of Bjuna have spells where you roll to wound and the Hagtree allows you to reroll those wounds. Nothing like taking out a BSB, wizard or even a general at range very early in the game.

Or a more traditional GBS with ward save, jagged dagger, I've seen steel claws to raise the attacks=kill count=more power dice thanks to Jagged Dagger.

I like keeping two largish blocks of Gors around. I also like the Razorgor and Harpies for WM hunting, but I have found that one Razorgor by itself doesn't make it to enemy lines consistently. I strongly recommend a unit of two if you are going to keep it.

@spyguyyoda - I know I'd personally rather have the 2 large blocks of Gors too. One of the nice things about needing to buy a lot anyways is that I can playtest the list both ways to see whats more effective.

Anyways, heres the new list.

Heroes
Great Bray Shaman - Level 4, Additional Hand Weapon, Crown of Command, Hagtree Fetish, Talisman of Preservation
(339)
Wargor - BSB - Heavy Armor, Shield, Gnarled Hide, The Beast Banner
(206)

Core
40x Gor Herd - Full command, Additional Hand Weapons
(345)
5x Ungor Raiders
(30)
5x Ungor Raiders
(30)

Special
30x Bestigor Herd - Full Command, Manbane Standard
(425)
Razorgor
(55)
5x Harpies
(55)

Total - 1485

Any suggestions for what to do with the last 15 points?

Yep. Make your harpies scouting.

Also, I heartily agree with 30 Bestigors. They're the best.

Regarding lores, I love shadow on my lvl4 GBS, but I know some people love Death just as much. I recommend trying them both out.

Latest list looks solid. Like I said manbane is OK, try out the standard of disc at some point and flaming banner too and see what works best, with the extra points you could drop a raider unit and grab some more gor, bestigor or an extra razorgor.

So pretty much from here its just a matter of doing some playtesting and going from there? Where would I go to expand the army further? I really like minotaurs, but I'm not sure how effective they are in game

Personally, I usually fill most of my Special points with Bestigors and a couple of Razorgors. I haven't quite had the opportunity to use my Minos in game yet...

Yeah play around with it. Minos and centigors are both viable but you have to build a list around them. For minos it's about the minobus, 3 wide doombull and gorebulls in the front kitted out so you gotta fight their weapon skill, minos behind them provide 3 supporting attacks each. For a more competitive build add in another unit of 40+ gor, then the herdstone with 2-3 level 1-2s around it generating power dice then it's all about buffing and debuffing the combat so you win. Beastlord too for the extra leadership. More chaff like razorgor, raiders harpies are good too.
