on the forum. Obviously

How exactly do you use warriors?
Their purpose eludes me. They're not good in a assault, and it's kinda pointless to have them camp in a corner and snipe at the enemy, considering that the S.Cannon and DL is only 36"
Any thoughts?

You want to shoot stuff with them. Works best in a Raider. It's the "gunboat" style of play.

but won't the raider get blown up?
I mean, the rifles are 12" range (as raider will constantly be moving), and at that distance there will be a lot of dakka coming it's way.

They're best used in MSU in Venoms with twin Splinter Cannons. 2 Heavy 6 poisoned weapons will put out far more dakka than Kabalites can on their own at such a range without being vulnerable to a counter assault.

10 with a Blaster and a Splinter Cannon in a Raider works, or just MSU in a Venom with a Blaster.

They definatley need to be in either a Raider or a Venom, and they can work pretty well as tankbusters in a raider or venom (especially with Trueborn, blasters are great) or stick to anti personell, in which you could either go Venom MSU gunboats or one Raider with duke silicius and 9 kabalites, one with splinter cannon, and a disentergrator cannon on the raider, and hunt down infantry mobs. They are fairly versitile shooters.

I've tried several different builds, and the 5 man blaster/venom squad is the best bang for your buck. The other squad builds do not perform well enough to justify the point cost.

The 10 man squad gets another lance shot due to being in a Raider, and 20 shots at close range, but the Venom squad is 50~ pts less and gets 12 shots while moving. Only problem is it has to move 6" to shoot its lance. It's a bit of a tradeoff, but you'll find the Venom's more effective. I use the Raider boat personally just for having a larger squad and the additional lance since my obsession with Wyches hits my AT a bit.

I've always wanted to try 6 squads of 20 with dual dark lances and blaster. Its not very expensive in terms of points for how many wounds and shots you get. You also don't have the glass airplane issue mech lists have, and you can still have tons of anti tank and infantry with enough points for assault/counter assault units like beast packs, MCs and bloodbrides.

They work well then - just gotta remember can only move 6" and still fire and can't deep strike and fire (unless you get out), I am not a tourney player but I like a couple of raiders full of them to grab objectives etc. Splinter cannons and blasters are very effective weapons

The most efficient use is, IMO, 5 man with blaster in a dual SC venom. The next best, again just my opinion, is a 10 man squad with DL in a raider disembarked. Park them someplace with cover within range of an enemy and just take shots with the Raider a mobile DL.

A 20 man squad with dual DL and blaster is 245 points, 6 of those is 1470 and frankly this is a pretty terrible squad. You're incredibly fragile and either you have to stay still or waste the DLs so your rifles and blaster become pretty useless.

For dropping out Dark Lances you might as well just go with 3 Trueborn with 2 Lances and a Raider for ~140 points.

Is it ever viable to upgrade one to a sybalite?

It seems like he or she only can take CC weapons which seems kind of pointless on this kind of squad. But he might be used to make them last a little longer if they are forced to charge (at least they have I5), and the warrior box doesn't have enough splinter rifles for everyone...

Most of my thoughts on Warriors can be found in the DE tactica (link in the sig) but here's my quick breakdown

Shooting tanks:
Shooting Infantry:
Assaulting things:
Used as a tool to get more vehicles on the board:
Sybarite worth it?:

I'll also say Mr. Self Destruct hit most of my thoughts pretty well also. Lances are better spammed elsewhere, usually. Raiders are actually a good option if you don't want/need a Venom, and there *are* options that are not 5 w. Blaster in venom that are competitive and work, though I'll agree that's a very excellent build.
