Subject: 600 point Necron school league list

Okay, its the school league in roughly 3-4 months, and I have chosen to use Necrons, as most small Necron lists go, there isn't much variation in squads, so I'm open to any ideas and replacements.
Also, the school league rules allow standard, 2 troops, 1 HQ minimum, but only 1 heavy support or fast attack, and 1 Elite choice.
So here's the basic list:
Lord: resurrection orb, warscythe, phase shifter,
180 points
10 warriors:
180
10 warriors:
180
5 scarab swarms:
60
total: 600
Or the destroyer version:
lord: Destroyer body, resurrection orb, Phylactery
185
10 warriors:
180
10 warriors:
180
Tomb spyder:
55
total: 600
again, any comments and ideas would be appreciated! thanks!

Go for the First list and switch the Scarabs for the Tombspyder and use the 5P elsewhere.
Unless the Scarabs have Disruption they're useless switch for the Tombspyder or some Destroyers? Not sure on the points going off memory so correct me If that's not possible.

Necrons are so tough to do in small games as they are so expensive.
I am not sure what models you have but this is something I came up with.
Lord
-Phaseshifter
Warriors x10
Warriors x10
Tombspyder
-Particle projector
Tombspyder
-Particle Projector
Good luck 600 pts is tough for Necrons.

To be honest, I dont think that the particle projectors are decent enough in tourneys, I would rather have them with the standard CC weapon, but i mainly use them to keep my warriors alive longer, not combat, so I would keep them behind my warriors in a phalanx type formation, so I can get extra perks and tactics

But its not a tourney. Its a league and you really need some extra firepower at this point level.
Just noticed you could only have one heavy. Well buy them as one still win, win.
I do agreee at bigger points level to drop the PProjector. It is reather useless in bigger games.

well you know what i mean, league, tourney, same thing to me, but yeah its just tricky to field it and actually get some use out of it, i mean, 12 inch isnt exactly going to hit much when its behind the warriors and approximately 18 inch behind the lord, so im not gonna get much use. But i could use a VOD on the lord to grab objectives and kind off, shock and awe approach the opponents backward line, obviously this is expensive, and generally unpredictable so i would prefer something a bit more reliable

Didn't I read something about a 600 pt School League of IG/Nids? Was that you, or one of your opponents?
If you're going for Necrons, and the league starts in 3-4 months, just wait. Most likely, all the Necron rules you know are about to get changed in about 2 weeks. New solid Codex Rumors that the 'crons are coming is out. So, wait it out, then buy the 'dex, and work it from there. I have a sneaking suspicion there will be way more options to take.

well, no, that wasnt me and that guy was from a different part of britain than us, but still might of been in the league.
and I have thought about the release of the new codex, but as far as I know there is no exact release date for the new crons, so i'll post another topic if the new dex comes out before the league

Sorry, Crons don't work at all at 600 points. You have no shield for the warriors and phase out seems an almost inevitable consequence. Having to spend at least 380 points of the 600 on troops that die in CC is huge here. If you want to play an unpopular army at this level then maybe try Tau?

I have to disagree, from my experience with small scale necrons, they have quite a reputation at the local club, and as for a shield for warriors, that is why i plan to possibly have a spyder, AND a ressurection orb, and as for close combat, I dont intend for warriors to get close, hopefully the phalanx I use should, as it has before, stop most anything reaching them without a decent amount of damage dealt, and i say these out of practise from the club, though I respect what your saying, I'd say if used right and given a decent list, they should be pretty hardy.
