Subject: Help with dreadnought weapon load?

Hi everyone, this is just an exercise to see what others think a good loadout for a Salamanders dreadnought would be? I am planning on purchasing a contemptor pattern one to use and want to know what you think would be the best options for him before i buy the seperate arms, i'd like him to be useable but also fluffy, so any help would be appreciated!
thanks in advance!

If you have Vulkan in the army, then Multimelta/Heavy Flamer. Every time.

Yep, Vulkan will be there :-) So the contemptor arm with the fist and flamer and the other with a multimelta? I will have to convert something won't I? I can't see the contemptor with an arm for that? On a side note, vulkan does make the sallies a very nasty little army doesn't he! ;-)

Anything on him would be technically "fluffy" Contempters are walking relics, Salamanders appreciate that kind of stuff.
I usually run a CC arm, a Heavy Beamer and the Cyclone. Actually, Vulkan in an apoc game isn't really that impresive...

Yep, that also makes sense, so technically it won't matter what i arm him with even if i intend to use him as a normal or ven dread as the chapter cares for all relics from era's by! I would be tempted to arm him with the cc weapon and flamer? and either the lascannon arm or plasma cannon arm? as I think these can both be used on other mks of dread?

Any of the normal weapons can be used by pretty much any dread, plasma, melta, flamer etc. I would actually suggest running it as an Ironclad with a DCCW and Seismic Hammer with an underslung HF and MM, if your running Vulkan taking the TL HF or TL MM arm is a waste.
The only thing I'm going to caution you about, is that be prepared for people to refuse to let you play this as a counts as. Because of the way its modeled its considerably bigger then a standard Dreadnought, but its also narrower, its hard to explain but generally I had alot of people refuse to let me play it because they belived it gave me an advantage.

Thank you for that info, i'll try and get my head around it :-) i'm not a 'player' as i have always been into painting them, but I want to paint the contemptor but also use it in a game, I only play against friends so it won't matter about the size, I better go and browse forgeworld and the arms then!
