I'm currently working on a Raven Guard drop pod army, and after playing a couple of games with proxies and substitutes, I think I found a decent list for a 1500 point drop pod army...

HQ:

155- Master of the Forge with Conversion Beamer and motorcycle

Elites and Heavy Support:

435- 3 Iron Clad Dreadnoughts with a flamer replacing their storm bolter

250- 2 Dreadnoughts with two twin linked auto cannons

125 1 Dreadnought with a plasma cannon and a missile launcher

Troops:

340- 2 X10 tactical squads with a flamer and missile launcher

Dedicated Transport:

140- 4 Drop pods

65- 1 Drop pod with locator beacon and deathwind launcher.

Total 1500

Total 1500

The plan would be the Master of the Forge starts as far from the enemy as possible, with the two riflemen dreads a good distance back also. 1 Tac squad would be with them, split into two combat squads.

Turn 1, two Iron clads would drop down near the enemy, the one with the locator beacon will be a homer for the other pods. The third pod will be occupied by the dread with the plasma cannon and missile launcher, which will help pop vehicles with the launcher and it can use its plasma cannon to hurt small squads. The 2nd Tac squad will ride down in another pod.

Should I do anything to improve this list or does anyone know any other fun drop pod builds or any cool builds to do with the Raven Guard?

Whoops, I've edited that typo. Yeah I meant twin linked auto cannons, I figured those are good for popping transports.

You are dropping dreads close to the enemy. That is melta distance. They will die before they can do damage. I know they have av13 but still meltas will sort them out.

However you have some ranged attack so you should be all right.

Definitely, Meltas are going to be one of my biggest threats, that's why only two of the Iron clads are going in turn 1, I figure once they and the plasma dread thin out the enemy, I can drop my third iron clad in and cause the most damage.

I would think about a MM dread instead of a plasma cannon one. Looks interesting and fun to play. I think the plasma cannon would be better suited at long range.
