I like them. The bone looks nice and the red lightning claws provide a nice contrast colour. The freehand on the shoulders is nice but could be a bit straighter in places. Like the sword on the hammer man is a bit crooked.
I like the old school looking bases too, they look good against the bone.

Your bone armour is really good!

I used to hate freehand till I found this image from Ron at FTW

It makes it so easy you just have to try it!

This was my first attempt:

^^ Now THAT is a top freehand tip! Anything similar out there for Relictor shoulderpads?

I agree the lines could be a touch straighter but I think I prefer OP's freehand. It looks more genuine, like a marine painted them.

Great effort. You may want to look into getting some of the washes to add some depth.

Keep it coming!

Need more 's in my life!

Good tabletop standard.

Not a fan of the '90s basing techniques

This is a fantastic tip. My Deathwing have been sitting around for a couple of weeks with just that icon left to do, and I had been putting it off because I'm terrible with freehand stuff.

Using this advice it took me 30mins to sort them all out, and from a typical tabletop viewing distance they all look as neat as transfers. Thanks for posting that.

You could try to use that for BAs too. Genius.

OP: I love the overall colour scheme, very quick but nice to look at. Smooth lines too, for somebody who clearly does not use thinner.

The freehand is very even, a very nice overall skeleton, good lines and angles . The edges might need a bit of work though. One way to vastly improve your freehand is Vallejo thinner, smells of strawberries too.

A good guide on painting edges and epic duck studios has posted a few comments on it that are helpfull too.

One quick tip, add a very small horizontal slash of white one the eye. It does not need to be tiny like an iris, but you need a little red around the edges just to define them and make the eyes look like they are glowing red rather than white.

Also a quick sepia glaze on the purity seal parchment would make them look a bit darker and make the details pop up a bit.
