Hello!

I wanted some help from you guys with an upcoming 2v2 Tourney at my LGS, I will be playing with a Space Wolves ally. Its 1k Points each for a 2000 v's 2000 Battle. The Space Wolf fields 2 units of devistators and 2 units of his tactical marines with a Librarian and a Captain.

Last time I played we got 3rd out of 8 but didnt win a game . I was carried along by sportsmanship and painting scores and managed to kill some HQ's each game.

I would like to do better though so was wonding if anyone could help me out with my army selection as I tend to play a very non BA army revolving around 2 units of taticals in transport and a drop pod dread with a small death company unit floating around and 5 terminators.

This is what I own.
HQ:
Astorath
Librarian in Terminator armor
AoBR Captain (converted to have a combi melta)

Elite:
5 Sang Guard
5 AoBR Termies (1 with Assault Cannon)
1 Furioso Librarian Dread

Troop:
10 Tactical (Missile + Flamer, Boltguns)
10 Tactical (Missle + Flamer, Boltguns)
10 Assault Marines (Jump Packs, Meltagun, Flamer, Power Sword)
10 Assault Marines (Jump Packs, Meltagun, Flamer, infernus pistol + power sword)
10 Death Company + Lemarties (Jump Packs, 3 Power Swords, 1 Power Fist, 2 Infernus Pistols, 1 Thunder Hammer)

Transport:
1 Rhino
1 Razorback (Twin Linked Lascannon)
1 Drop Pod (DW Missile Launcher)

Fast Attack:
Baal Pred (Flamestorm and heavy flamer sponsons)

Heavy:
AoBR Dread (Multi Melta + Bloodfist)

Which of my units should I be trying to field to make this list most competitive? or choose to help and support my space wolves ally the most?

well you've got a pretty reasonable selection of models, so here goes.

I would be looking at something along the lines of:

Librarian (goes with tacticals)

Tactical squad with drop pod.

Assault squad

Assault squad

Sanguinary guard.

This should be close to 1000pts if I've worked it out correctly.

The problem is that his space wolf army that he's picked doesn't really mesh with what you have available so I would go different to provide different threats.

HIDING IN THE METAL BAWKSES!!

Leave the tacticals at home, let your SW friend run his Grey Hunters which are superior in everyway possible.

I'd go with

Astorath - 220

Sanguinary Guards - 200

Assault Marine x10 – PW, Infernus, Melta x2 – 225
Assault Marine x10 – PW, Flamer x2 - 215

Dreadnought - MM - 105
Drop Pod - 35

1000 on the spot

Together you should have a balanced list.

I was about to suggest Jackster's list. Maybe I wouldn't go for Astorath.
So maybe go for all your termies with librarian instead of the guard and Astorath.

Ill go with your Idea MFletch, I am yet to have any good games with my sang guard. I just dont know how to use them very well . What Powers would you recommend I take if i run Jacksters list with the Termies + Librarian instead of the Sang Guards and Astorath? Should I make him Epistolary? if I keep him basic ill have a spare 60-70 points I think.

It will be quite irregular but I have a few ideas.

How about Lance and Unleash rage? You teleport down and lance stuff/shoot stuff and then your termies become useful in cc as well.

Or wings and shield? To give cover saves to squads going forward, the termies can just fend for themselves.

The list is pretty solid as is however here's what i would do with your models.

Selections:
HQ

Librarian
Blood Lance, Terminator Armour, The Sanguine Sword

Elites

Furioso Dreadnought
Drop Pod
Deathwind Missile Launcher
Locator Beacon

Furioso
Blood Talon with built-in Meltagun
Blood Talon
Built-in Heavy Flamer

Terminator Squad
Assault Cannon, Sergeant

Troops

Assault Squad
9x Assault Marines, Flamer, Meltagun
Veteran Sergeant
Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon

Assault Squad
9x Assault Marines , Flamer, Meltagun,
Veteran Sergeant
Bolt Pistol, Power Weapon

Run the Dread as a standard furioso if you can blood talons will wreak havoc with any basic infantry and at 1000pts there isn't going to be allot that can deal with AV13.
The librarian isn't really suited to run with the termies but it's your best bet with the sanguine sword he will be a monster in combat and blood lance will give him some usefulness while the termis advance, the drop pod has a locator beacon to allow a deep strike providing your opponent doesn't take it out in turn one.

I would suggest you don't walk your termies across the board they will never get there and more than likely just die to shooting as they advance.

Your plan should be to get up in the enemies face asap and keep the pressure on them forcing them to focus on you and hopefully leave your team mate alone to do his thing.
