I am a huge Fluffy Nutter, but I have not been able to get my hands on the Assault on Black Reach book yet. Can anyone who has read the book please tell me what forces were used in the Assault on Black Reach? I am specifically looking for:

1. The planetstike...were only Drop Pods used?
2. Sicarius' raids on the Orc Encampments?
3. Any other unit actions.

I like fluff too, and i have assault on black reach, so i should be able to help. However, GW and BL seem to have different opinions. there are 3 sources. The AOBR book, the codex and WD. I'm trusting WD in this. In the planetstrike, mostly Thunderhawks were used, and in the assault on Zanzag's lair a single thunderhawk was flown into the cave, disorienting and surprising the Orks. The ultramarines won the battle, routing the Orks, but Zanzag escaped to the desert ruins outside. There, he was hunted down and killed by Sicarius.

Thank you for the response. Here's why I asked:

I have the entire 2nd Company, and I want to recreate the fluff on the tabletop. Now, I know that this is going to be hard! In the books, 10 Marines can take out 100 Orcs...not so much on the tabletop...My 2nd Company are loaded out exactly as they are in the book as well, instead of for efficiency, so they are not at "hard" as they could be.

But, I want to have "fluffy" battles, so it is OK. I never see the Second Company deploy in Rhino/Razorback transports, or use other heavy equipment, though. For example:

Thrax - An attack on a Daemon-corrupted Forge World (no other information)
Battle of the Sepulchre - No specific mention of the 2nd Company, but mostly a defensive formation followed up by rapid assaults from roving bands of TAC squads
Assault on Black Reach - 2nd Company using Drop Pods and Thunderhawks
Halamar Rift - Ship to ship action
Armageddon - Lightning strikes, but no real data
Damnos - 2nd Company Using Drop Pods (although the heavy stuff landed after Sicarius was put out of action)
Ichar IV - Underhive and Apocalypse action, but no real data
Crusade against the Tau - Sicarius leads it, but no real data yet
The Chapter's Due - 2nd Company doing covert ops with a stolen Rhino and then a Thunderhawk assault

So, so far, it is all Drop Pods and Thunderhawks

Look at the Spear of Sicarius. That's your Second Company. If there are rhinos in that beast, there are rhinos in 2co.

The Spear of Sicarius, from Planetstrike, is nothing BUT Drop Pods...
