I have finished the Space Wolf books, which i really enjoyed.

Can anyone reccomend another Space Marine book to read next, i know there are quite a few to choose from but i wondered what people could reccomend as the best choice next?

Are the Heroes/Legends(?) of the Space marines books any good?

The two most recent for me was Horus Rising and Angels of Darkness.

If you want some good history then Horus Rising is the start to the Horus Heresy series and an excellent read delving into the legions and the common folks by looking at a few well developed characters.

Angels of Darkness is two stories in one book, that are tied to each other, one about the past, and one the present, and give a very interesting view of the Dark Angels chapter and insite to their secret society. Was a very good read (so good I'm actually reading it again while waiting for my next books).

Helsreach by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. He's the best author BL has to offer, and this book has him writing about Black Templars and Orks.

Brothers of the Snake was awesome.

Its basically a series of short stories, detailing the high points of a marine's career, with a long story at the end to tie everything together.

The horus heresy books are mostly all good. Especially the ones for specialized legions such as a thousand sons and fulgrim.

I'm in the minority here in that I really didn't like Brothers of the Snake. I liked that it had a long story at the end that tied things from every short story together, but a lot of the actual writing bothered me. Like the part where a squad of Marines literally kills 1000 Dark Eldar nonchalantly, or where in the span of 10 seconds two Marines kill 40 Dark Eldar just kicking in the door of a bunker. Also the Space Marine version of 300 happens.

the marines vs orks thing was awesome... it was like the scene in the matrix when the sentinels got into zion man. They kept pushing them back, but they always came back in greater numbers

It was just awesome.

Also, remember that those eldar were fleeing the main contingent of the marine force.... priad was rearguard. They caught them unaware.
