You can't let fear rule the day on that. Parts suppliers come and go, and if you don't use the pieces, they'll just collect dust, and not become cool terrain. Plus, there's always NEW terrain people coming into the market. Yeah, it is tempting to go 'but I could cast/copy these, but I don't know how". That will just stall you.

Build awesome stuff, NOW, while you have the time and parts.

Someone in one of the threads we follow showed us a rotary cutter, which appears to be perfect for scoring straight lines in plasticard for score-and-cut.

Two tools kitbashers/scratchbuilders NEED:

1) A chopper, be it from Micro Mark or from NWSL. Make repetitive cuts a breeze.
2) A good bone/hacksaw and a cutting jig. Cheap, easy, guaranteed straight lines.

I have been using a guillotine paper cutter (the one with a base, and the long bladed arm) to make very straight, very long cuts in plasticard. It can handle .040" easily, and the base has a measuring grid.

None of these tools are overly expensive, for those of us (like me) on a budget.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to purge the crap, to uncover the treasure. The hard part, of course, is NOT GOING BACK.

Well, first, you'll need to go back in time to the early 2000's, when GW gave away the cut-a-way Land Raider poster...

Dave,

Make sure to ask questions! Lots of questions! You'll enjoy those, I took a Hirst Arts class at Adepticon. You WILL need to have a spare bag for your castings! Suggest a box to mail them home in.

Note: Dental Stone is AWESOME, but two part resin is, really, the way to go for lightweight and sturdy.

The 'Solid Snake' series of video games had gotten to a point where you were, literally, sneaking around disguised as a crate.

The random plastics have some bitz that are pretty cool and I expect I'll find an application for them. These bitz are the least critical of everything I have. There's only one specific (and very low priority) 'project' in this pile (the blue boxes), the rest are truly just bitz.

I see a TON of the Adeptus Titanicus plastic building roofs in there (the cross-shaped pieces). *broken sobbing*

The 4x6 board is the doom of both 40K and Fantasy. YMMV.

I will play any of the following, Skalk:

Epic (Use the NetEpic rules, they're great)
Battlefleet Gothic
Firestorm Armada
*ANY* 28mm skirmish game (Killzone, Combat Patrol are my current faves)

Epic would take a bit, as I'd have to scrounge up an army.

A BILLION corpses? I don't think the Fantasy world has produced that many bodies.

Isn't it nice when you take an older terrain piece and spruce it up? Works great for out of the box stuff, too. Great job!

Holy hell.

Can you pull a date off of those two towers, BEFORE you abuse the heck out of them? Should be on the bottom.

Those are...were...Lionel O Scale rotating Radar Towers, a Post-War accessory which one of them looked to be solidly in the $100 category, depending on how intact it was.

Alas, now that they're covered in black primer, they're worth...whatever you paid for them.

Probably for the best. Only one of them was worth anything, and it would all depend on WHEN they were made, as you can buy them new for $50.

I am totally on "on-deck" mode. I HAD to clear out those valks and such, before I started on painting the "Big O". I still have tons of terrain projects and whatnot. My terrain building is now fully-enabled by the 6th Edition terrain rules. Let's GO!

Recovering from my week-long VMware certification class.

2000 points, EH? How about we put it at 1,999 so we don't deal with a second FoC?

OMG, You'll be ready to kill something.

I'm already ready. Already. The fact that I have to shell out $3,500 because you can't get the cert without taking the class has made me angry. Very, very angry. Like, "Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator" very angry.

No, the 28th works very well for me. I really will want to blow off steam, drink some ice cold iced tea, and get my game-and-grill on.

Briancj and Galorn are brutal circuit players that would throw a (kitten / puppy... take your favorite) into a wood chipper right in front of you if it meant they would gain a tactical advantage. I've heard rumors that Briancj eats raw meat as a sacrifice to the unknown Gods of Chaos before playing. Yes, I know he plays IG. I'm thinking it's just a front to cover the massive Chaos Cult he is part of.

It's going to be a brutal fight.
