Edit:

Finally got enough for 2000 points. Here's the list:

Archon w/ Huskblade + Soul Trap + Drugs + Clonefield = 135
9 Bloodbrides + 3 Shardnets + Psyren upgrade + Agonizer + Haywire Grenades = 195
Raider + Flickerfield = 70

Haemonculus + Shattershard = 65
7 Wyches + Hekatrix Upgrade + Agonizer + Haywire Grenades = 114
Raider + Flickerfield = 70
Haemonculus + Liquifier = 60
7 Wyches + Hekatrix Upgrade + Agonizer + Haywire Grenades = 114
Raider + Flickerfield = 70

10 Warriors w/ Dark Lance + Blaster = 130
10 Warriors w/ Dark Lance + Blaster = 130

3 Trueborn w/ 3 Blasters = 81
Venom + Splinter Cannon = 65
3 Trueborn w/ 2 Splinter Cannons = 56
Venom + Splinter Cannon = 65

Ravager w/ Flickerfield = 115
Ravager w/ Flickerfield = 115
Ravager w/ Flickerfield = 115

5 Scourges w/ 2 Haywire Blasters = 130
3 Reavers w/ 1 Heat Lances = 78

Total = 1983

General strategy is for the Archon and his brides to hunt ICs and MCs. The 2 Raiders and their cargo zoom in close with the 2 Venoms and their guns providing covering fire depending on the threat. The 2 footsquads of Warriors stay in cover with objectives if possible while taking potshots with their Dark Lance. The 2 Ravagers support the 2 footsquads some distance away as well. The 2 Fast Attack options attack Vehicles. The Scourges aim for crippling transports while the Reavers go actual tank-hunting.

Thoughts? Comments?

I never know what to make of lists that are 1 point over - I know at my store that's not legit except in friendly play with an opponent's okay, are you looking to cut that point or what?

I think 200+ points is way too much to pay for the RJB squad - they are, at best, only slightly better than the Ravagers at tank hunting, and that's only on turn 2+ because turn 1 they probably won't be in range.

I'd *happily* drop them for a single Ravager and save over 100 points right there and consider the list already probably stronger. You could put back in a squad of 3 with heat lance if you'd like, I'd also consider grenades on the Bloodbrides.

What's the point behind the Soul Trap on the Archon? He has a Venom blade so...are you ust trying to get him to the point he causes instant death via a high strength? I don't really get the combo - either the V.Blade should become something aided by strength, or the Soul Trap should be dropped to save points.

4 Troops seem a bit low for DE, when it comes to 2000 points. I agree with being 1 point over and needing something to be cut off.

The Reavers, while I am a fan of Reavers personsally, are a bit of a sink here. You have 9. Which makes it a really large unit. If you are intent on keeping them. Split them into one 6 and one 3 unit.

Taking those into account, I dropped the things suggested above and added another Ravager.

As for the Venomblade, I dropped that too but I was always under the impression that the initial hit of the Archon will always be the annoying part when hunting. Having a Venom Blade would negate that, and then when his strength is doubled, he can re-roll to wound rolls against other people as well to make sure they die. Isn't that worth it for 5 extra points?

You're looking at this in a fascinating backward manner, let me explain deeper to help explain my position, and then maybe you can explain deeper if needed to help educate me about your position;

To my mind, the point of high strength in h2h combat is so that I can wound my opponent easily. I love the idea of wounding an opponent on 4+ or 3+ or even (joy) 2+
I like to pair that with a power weapon effect (Husk Blade, Djinn Blade, Power Weapon) so that I wound the enemy very easy *and* ignore armor saves.

I like to take the Venom Blade as a cheap upgrade that lets me wound on 2+ (joy) though I understand that since it allows armor saves it will always struggle to kill anything that is wearing decent armor (aka - MEQ, aka over half the armies in the game)

So - the Venom Blade wounds on a 2+
Which means that with increased strength you get to re-roll...all the rolls of 1...which probably won't happen too much.
Quite frankly, versus almost everything you'll get that effect as soon as you get to Str 4 with Furious Charge or something - because, you just need to match the opponent's toughness to get a re-roll, so versus Guard, some Nids, and Eldar you're already re-rolling.
But, still, it's only re-rolls of when you roll a 1, because everything else will already wound anyway.

So to my mind the question isn't - is it worth 5 to take a Venom Blade with a Soul Trap?
The question is - is it worth 10 to take a Soul Trap with a Venom Blade?

If you want to increase strength - take a weapon that will get better with increased strength.
If you want a Venom Blade, don't take a strength boost effect that will almost do nothing to make it cause more damage.
