I've got an unpainted Realm of Battle board at home and I really like the fact that I can disassemble it and put it away using the big bag it came in.

I got the Citadel Scenery Painting Pack with 2 big bags of nice static grass and I was wondering whether it would be scratched off as I pack and unpack the board every weekend.

I've never worked with static grass so I can't tell how bad it would be and how easy it is to correct once it happens...

Any advice?

There's always the danger, that the grass might come off, if you rub it the wrong way packing and unpacking your board.

For extra protection you might use full strength PVA instead of watering it down. Also, you could apply a layer of varnish to the board once you have the grass down - although this might do weird things to the texture of the grass.

It will slowly wear off, yes. But so long as you design/paint your board with random patches of grass, any wear and tear will then just naturally look like those areas have no grass growing there - not a problem.

1. Make sure you fully paint the board before laying down the grass, that way if it does rub off, it doesn't look too bad.

2. After allowing the glue to dry, try applying watered down pva to the grass. That will help it stick.
or
2. Spray clear coat over it. A lot of people think this will give the grass a sheen or make it funny, but it doesn't. I have clear coated static grass before, and it looks fine.

3. Treat your board very carefully.

What ever you do, it will come off eventually, but these can help you keep the grass on for as long as possible. Of both options for number 2, I would go with the second one personally.

Thanks for the tips guys!

I think I'll try it a small test surface with extra pva to get a feel for how durable it is and whether it spoils the grass.
