If there any information on how the Confederation of Light dealt with pro-Vandire elements once they crushed the Apostasy? I'm assuming the Church had many dedicated laymen i.e orthodox planets who willingly supported Vandire. I assume mass witch hunts would take place but I'm guessing ultimately it would be rhetorical and legal submissions rather than genocide for the most, wiping out a few trillion people probably isn't smart following a religious civil war?

I ask because I'm typing up the background for an Imperial world which supported Vandire vehemently and is still (covertly) influenced by the Ecclesiarchy's "old ways". I was wondering would such a world survive or merely be occupied and 'de-Vandirised'. L

Loose Canon I know but any hints could help me right this fluff up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh What a Lovely War.

The period in Imperial History after the Age of Apostasy is called the Age of Redemption, where "heretics" were purged and executed on a scale unseen in the Imperiums history. I can bet you that these heretics included Vandire's supporters.

Though Sebastian Thor's message was peaceful, I really doubt the new leadership in the Administratum, the AdMec, the newly formed Ordo Hereticus, etc. would tolerate Vandire's former allies to remain living.

If you want to delve into licensed material, the writers behind the Dark Heresy RPG had a rather cool idea called the "Temple Tendency" - basically a hidden network of zealots who wish to return to the Vandirian ways of the Imperial Cult, who have also managed to infiltrate certain key positions in the Ecclesiarchy.

Might be suitable inspiration for you? It at least sounds like something that could fit, following your description of that world.

As for allies, I'm not sure Vandire had any, actually. He just bullied everyone into submission. That's not to say that his puppet senators might not still be subjected to a trial, regardless of how they actually felt, of course. In fact, the 2E SoB Codex does mention that the coalition "issued a summons for the High Lords to account for themselves and to indict and execute Vandire as a traitor" before the siege of the Imperial Palace began. That said, Vandire simply dissolved the Council of High Lords shortly after having heard of this, stripping the puppets of what little authority they held, so who knows.
