I want to make a Blood Angels DoA list with no special characters. Besides ASSAULT MARINES EVERYWHERE(which is of course necessary), what should I be doing to build my list?

Dirty Harry wrote:I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Apart from assault marines(with meltas)?

Librarian with jump pack is the HQ to think about.
a few priests with jump packs. maybe 1 for every 2 squads.

Now things people tend not to bring but are needed.
Firstly one assault squad with powerweapon and flamers as an antiinfantry threat is needed.
Next an honour guard with some firepower. I like 4 plasmas or 4meltas+flamers(2 guns per model.) This is some things need to be shot at.
Finally a well armed venguard unit or maybe sang. guard. Good cc units will eat your assault marines so you'll want a great cc unit to countercharge with.

in a general DoA list your gonna want some sang priests to give FnP and FC to your units. in addition most DoA lists add in vanguard vets and/or Sang Guard to have access to better weapon options to deal with things that your RAS might have trouble with. also honor guard are your friend, with the ability to have a unit that can do either anti armor by having upto 4 meltas or anti infantry by utilizing flamers. and also comes with its own FnP/FC bubble just like sang priests.

as for HQ's generally libbies are best, mainly due to the 5+ cover generated by shield. however your second power will vary from person to person. i personally prefer blood lance as it can hit multiple targets.

Instead of taking Vanguard Veterans, you could look to devastators with missile launchers for cover fire. If you do want to take vanguard veterans, take 10 of them with powerfists and meltabombs. Use them as suicide units, disrupting key enemy heavy support such as space wolf long fangs, ork lootas, etc. As for the rest of the list, taking 2 meltaguns per squad as well as a powerfist for the sergeant is quite standard. Add in a librarian(s) with jump pack and some honour guard, sanguinary priests and your good to go.

The last thing that hasn't been mentioned: No vehicles. One key to a successful DoA list is having zero vehicles on the table, so you don't give your opponent good targets for his anti-tank weapons.

Current Record: 5 Wins, 6 Draws, 3 Losses 2000 points

In Progress: 500 points

I know this isn't true DOA, but some people have taken a couple (2ish) of stormravens in their lists which I thought was pretty cool, because you can assault out of it.

thats true...but also a very common overlooked part of DoA is everything has a jump pack. if you add in things such as the popular devastators or bikers it becomes something entirely different and plays differently as well
