So after 6 games and a tourney win I'm comfortable to say I like a 3 Nightspinner List. Here is my final variant that faired me well.

Eldrad (With Guardians)

4 Fire Dragons + Exarch
Wave Serpent w/ Scatters
5 Fire Dragons
Wave Sepent w/ Scatters

5 Dire Avengers
Wave Serpent w/ Scatters

10 Guardians w/ Scatter + Warlock w/ embolden

3 GJB w/ S Cannon + Warlock w/ Spear, Embolden

Nightspinner w/ Holos, Stones

Is this 2k points? And if so where would you start trimming it down to 1750?

After fairly mediocre Prism performances I wouldn't mind doing a little turret swap and trying something similar to this out but I rarely play over 1750.

Eh at 1750 thtat is a big chick of points lost. You would probably be better off with a Eldrad + 2 Prisms + Nightspinner combo

Ah that's too bad. I guess I'll just play around with Spinners then in my regular list as I've never used one before and they look like some fun.

I don't want to suggest you completely change your list, but i would suggest a change in troops. I would run 3 x 5 fire dragons in wave serpents and change out all the troops for 2 x 10 dire avengers w/ blade storm and i think that leaves you with 347 points to play around with.

The Nightspinners, Scatter lasers, EML blasts, and if need the Guardian squad is actually plenty of anti-Infantry. the only thing it seemed to need was another EML, but going to a 50/50 Scatters/EML split is a little worry some.

Yes, I will go fully on the record stating that Blade Storm DA are AWFUL for their point cost.

152 Points, 18" range, can fire a maximum of 2-3 times a game and typically only once before being blown off the table. Add to that the fact that it really requires a guide/doom combo and at that point your points could have been vastly better used elsewhere.

*GASPS* You are sorely mistaken sir. They are very effective, you just have to kill whatever they are shooting at and eldrad helps with that. You have to be very careful when you deploy them. I would try them a couple more times before you decline one of the best combos in 40k, and with those extra points you can customize it alot more.

I kinda have to agree. Maybe its my play style, maybe I'm doing it wrong, maybe we play on too small a board for our 1200 point games. But I've found I can always do better buying a minimalist DA squad and tossing the points on something else.

Do the DA do much? Nope. But I don't buy them to do anything more than sit in a WS and zoom in from my board edge and shoot up some transports... and they do that fantastically.

i am a fan of dual or tri-spinner lists, but i dont see the need of giving them all holo+stones.
normally they sit back in corner, hug board edge or camp behind full cover.

so i wud either
a) cut those holo+stones totally and instead get more anti mech.
b) transfer them to the Fire Dragon Serpents - to make sure they actually reach their Targets.
c) leave holo+stones on one spinner while the 2 "naked" ones, use the pimped up one as cover.

How convinced are you with the upgrades on your Nightspinners? Those upgrades total 135 points, if memory serves. It seems like an awful lot of points. Add in the FD Exarch upgrade and it's up to 147, nearly enough for another 5 Fire Dragons with Wave Serpent.

I've only got one Nightspinner, but have found it to be a fantastic tank and I'm yet to see anyone run 2 or more. Do they stay true that in 40K, if one thing works good, two or more works even better?

Is Eldrad absolutely worth it in the list? With a regular Farseer, in combination of the above points listed, you would definitely have enough points for 5 Fire Dragons and Wave Serpent. I can imagine you getting first turn and he casts 2 x Fortune on FD Wave Serpents, but past that, it would be fairly fluid for what he does. Does Premonition help you much?

I am glad to see another person using normal Guardians. I believe they have a place in the army, but tend to be overshadowed by 5 man Dire Avengers and Storm Guardians.

The nightspinners do have a slight deminishing return at the start of a match, but mid to end game they are mopping up all over the place. Doom + Nightspinner is absolutely lethal.

Eldrad isn't as good as in dual prism lists, but he is always worth it. In this list it is typically in the form of double doom + fortune or double fortune + doom. If the guardians are going to fire it's fortune + guide guardians and doom target.

Holofields and stones are always a must, that is not a debate though some think it is. 45 pts per tank turns them nearly indestructable. I haven't lost a holo skimmer in the last 6 matches.

Haha. My luck is just the opposite. I decided to try out a holofield Falcon and it was destroyed by the first shot against it.

It may come down to preference of playstyle. My Eldar morphed into an MSU list with the HQ being the hardest decision points. Which is probably why Eldrad is such a hard choice based on his points value.
