Well it all started today. I was excited about how awesome last nights match was (450ish Imperial guard points against 1500ish Dark and Regular Eldar)

I was playing defense ( ) and they were playing offense ( / ) The match was incredible as I helplessly held of the attacking eldar. However, there were just to many of them. It was so epic as my men fell back into the cardboard house I made which became the Alamo for my men. But they overan us sadly the casualties are as follows...

1 Chimera: Multi Las/Heavy Bolter

1 Support Squad: Lascannon, Heavy Bolter, Auto Cannon

2 Infantry Squads (20): 15 Regulars with Lasguns, 1 regular with las gun and Vox, 2 sergeants with CQC weapon, 1 regular with flamer, 1 regular with grenade Launcher

1 Armored Sentinel: Lascannon

1 command squad: Sniper, plasma pistol, medic, vox, standard

Lelith (thought she could run past my support guns LOL)

5 Mandrakes

8 wyches

10 bloodletters

10 Guardians

1 Raider: Dark lancer

10 kabilites: 1 armed with Dark Lancer (THIS GUY HAS KILLED 3 OF MY VEHICLES IN A ROW WITHOUT MISSING!!!!) in this game he took one shot and killed my Chimera!)

5 Dire Avengers

6 swooping hawks
........

ATTACKERS: 50 Plus Raider
DEFENDERS: 31 plus sentinel and Chimera

When I woke up I was like That wuz awsum d00d! so i went downstairs primed some and started think as they dried, I wana make a table!

So i drew up a scale model on paper and actually made a scale model on the floor comprised of pillows and shoes. I decided it would be awesome to give in an Alpine feel to it. Parts of grass, snow, frozen lake, pine trees.

Then i decided it would be fun to write about the battle last night

But something happened as started to write

this is all I wrote before I had the error:::::

997.M41 October 16

The Battle of Sandy Pass

Wehrdeustch(they have cadian models [unpainted but i plan to add Flecktarn Camo) of the imperial guard tried to hold a key choke point in th-

Then it hit me...

if i made a model table of alpine... I would only be able to play in a mountainus area... there would be no desert battles or jungle. NO IMAGINATION!!!!

I want a cool table but if i use it it would only be on one type of biome! So that makes me sad. That was my error.
Now I'm here for one thing. Advice. HALp me fix my error!

To summarise then... you want to make a battleboard but don't want it to be fixed as one type of environment.

Well my own preference would be to focus on one landscape (be it urban, desert, alpine, artic, jungle), use it for a campaign and then make another one when you get bored.

That said you could just paint a board with fairly generic colours (browns, greens, greys) and then add scenery to distinguish the landscape (sand dunes for deserts, trees for forests etc) that you're in the mood for.

Thank you so much. I dont really have time to make more than one table maybe in the future but i'll do the generic thing you said. Tis gonna be awesome.

That was a very long post to say very little relating to the topic. Sounds like you had a great fight though. Don't overdo the emoticons in the future though, okay? They're like salt: a little bit can make your post delicious, too much and it can make your post not so good.

There's nothing wrong with building a board for one environment: city, alpine, desert, or what have you. Hell, I'd love a nice table to play on regardless of where it's set. If you really wanted to go all out (and not make a bunch of separate boards) you could make different tiles with different ground. For instance, you could make a marshy tile, a grassy tile, a rocky tile, or what have you. As long as the edges weren't too harsh you could make a nice table with a variety of environments on it.
