I was told today I could upgrade my deathwing venerable dreadnought to have "tank killer" but ive read the DA codex and the DA FAQ and I cant find any such information about this option all that i can find in my codex is im allowed to upgrade a dreadnought to a venerable dreadnought for 20 points.

If it is not an option in the codex, then you can not purchase it.

DA are seriously lacking in their Dreadnought options. Although assault cannons/Multi Meltas/Plasma cannons and TL autocannons for +0 points is nice.
EDIT: Good call Baldrick, there are always the Chaplain and Mortis pattern dreads.

The Chaplain dread is a nice option, when you don't have Iron Clads. Being Venerable and WS 5 really helps them out. Thought if you give them and an additional close combat arm they wind up being close to 200 pts. I put one in my death wing list every now and then. I just think they should be and HQ and not an Elite. A mortis with two TL lascannons is really nice too.

You used to be able to purchase skills like Tank Hunter and Furious Charge for dreadnoughts back in the day. That was back in 4th edition though.

Imperial Armour Apocalypse 2, it says that in a regular game they can be taken as an elite choice in BT, DA, and SM armies.
