Subject: 2500pt Eldar League List

My FLGS is having a league tournament where over a couple months everyone plays everyone in the league twice. One victorypoint or killpoint game and one capture and control or one seize ground game and random deployment every time. Unfortunately its 2500 points which kinda sucks for eldar but i'll give it my best shot. Eldrad 210 Autarch 115 WarpJump Generator, Mandiblasters, Power Weapon Troops 2 x 10 Dire Avengers 304 2 x Wave Serpent 230 Star Engines and Shuricannon 2 x 3 GJB and a warlock 258 Shuricannon and warlock w/ SS and embolden Elites 3 x 6 Fire Dragons 288 3 x Wave Serpent 345 Star Engines and Shuricannon Heavy Support Night Spinner 160 Holofield & SS 2 x Fire Prism 320 Holofields & SS Fast Attack 5 Warp Spiders 147 exarch w/ Powerblades and withdraw I am thinking of dropping the GJB, Warp spiders, and autarch for a farseer and maybe some vypers or more dire avengers. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

You have hardly any troops for 2500 points. Those 3 man bike squads will be wiped off the table in a turn every time, which makes the situation even worse. I'd run them as 6 man at least, and maybe add a couple more squads. I'd get rid of the warp spiders. Their guns blow so you're just wasting points on them. A beefy farseer would help a lot, but I don't think a single seer could service the entire army. Why star engines? How far do you really need to move in a turn? I'd also prefer Eldar Missile Launchers to those Shuriken Cannons on your vehicles since you're lacking high strength shooting. Leave the cannons for the bikes imo.

Eldrad 210 Jetseer 180 SS, RoWit, Doom, Guide, Eldrich Storm Troops 2 x 10 Dire Avengers 304 2 x Wave Serpent 230 Star Engines, SS & TL Shuricannon Elites 3 x 6 Fire Dragons 288 3 x Wave Serpent 345 Star Engines and TL Shuricannon 2 x SS Heavy Support Night Spinner 150 Holofield 2 x Fire Prism 300 Holofields Fast Attack 2 x 3 Vypers 450 EML & Chincannon 2487 I changed out the GJB and the warp spiders and autarch for a jetseer and 6 vypers with eml and shuricannon. I think it'll give me alot more fire power due to more guides and dooms around the field

If I could, I would have 20 banshees and the 3 squads of fire dragons. I just don't want the other people in the game to have any tanks left by the end of the game.

I think I'm going to keep this list for the league. I played orks today and won 15KP to 8KP; by the end of the game all he had left was a warboss with 1 wound left, 2 deffcoptas that had failed leadership and were running off the table, and 1 nob. The Jetseer did a considerable amount of damage with his eldrich storm. He killed 2 battlewagons and a deffdred. If you guys have anything you think I could improve on with this list please let me know
Thanks

Good to know the Jetseer worked out for you. Out of interest how have you modelled it?
I'm loving warwalkers at the moment, 6 scatter lasers is enough to put the fear into most opponents.
Did you find the star engines useful at all? Has your experience showed them to be of value?

I love star engines, it lets you have the best movement in the game. Whenever I put scatter lasers on my tank I usually don't use them half the game and when I do use them, they end up being not worth the points. Star engines can be used to hide your tank after you deploy or get behind enemy lines. I would use it if you are a more aggressive player.
My farseer model is actually a ringwraith from LOTR. I just stuck him on a heavy weapon platform that had no gun on it. It wasn't even glued I just set the model on the platform.

When fire dragons finally come out in finecast (fingers crossed) I'm going to use my waveserpents for them instead of my dire avengers, that might be a good use of star engines.
Love the idea of the ringwraith, for some reason I got it in my head that you had a full seer council on bikes, then I re-read your list...oops.
Have you done any battle reports? I think they'd be an interesting read if you did.

Blood angels didn't fare too well either. I played them in a capture and control gametype and with some bad reserve rolls on the blood angels' part, I was able to take them on squad by squad. I surrounded his deployment zone with fire dragons so he couldn't run far with his MSU tank spam. I also killed mephiston which is a personal victory because his dickery is usually greater than that of eldrad's.

The tank that was featured in a White Dwarf and the rules are on the GW site.
How did your Vypers fare in each game?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Yes the night spinner is legal. The rules for it are on GW's site, its pretty nasty. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=15100016a&_requestid=228847 My vypers have performed very well. The fire dragons draw so much fire the first two turns that they can pretty well don't get fired at. After those turns you have to be careful how close you get them to enemy squads. Usually after the first two turns there aren't many transports left anyway. I played a game versus tau and he targeted them alot but it took him so long to kill them that my other stuff managed to table everything but one squad of broadsides(who i never fire at).
