I don't know the Imperial Guard very well, but I have a fluff related question. Could an Imperial Guard Regiment not use the platoon structure that other Regiments use and still be fluffy? Thanks. Also, I barely know anything about the Imperial Guard, so please don't get mad at me if the question I'm asking is as stupid as, "Could I create my own Codex for Chaos Grey Knights?"

What do you mean, "Platoon Structure"? It's a pretty loose hierarchical structure, I don't think you can get an advanced/modern army without a hiarachical structure.

It would be fairly small compared to other guard regiments but doing it:
Guardsman
Squad
Company
Regiment
Would work just as fine...

The two squads per platoon is purely a balance thing so it's not too cheap for the IG to get 2 troops. 240 for two troops per platoon, 140 for one squad.
