Any and all help welcome! Getting ready to start a new campaign that will allow me to field 1 named character!!!

Looks about the best you can do with what is allowed. I wouldn't mind seeing a bike squad or 2 in there if you wanted to do duelwing. But thats just my taste.

Now the idea thing would be to have Sammeal in there too to make bikes troops and give the FNP. but if you can only have one Special character that is out. The bikes help with heavier troops with the Plasmaguns and to give TPort homers for the terminators. The Attack bike scouts to try to kill hard tank like Land raider or what have you. If it dies oh well after that. Plus it has a tport homer as well. Dread to help with heavy infantry as well. Moving up with a couple squads of terminators as cover for them. The troop speeder is there to harras what ever it can, maybe kill transports if need be. I know most people don't like EA, but I am one of the few that thinks it helps in times of need. I like to always keep my vehicles moving. That is why I put them on there.

Well that is my take on it if I can't have Sammeal. If i could it would be a bit different. Good luck!

All squads should have CML: it is too cheap, too versatile and gives your units some range which needed to ignore.
Also I would mix LCs with SS/TH to make all squads able to charge vehicles or hordes.

You have immobile troops as such I always like to take ranged weapons so Preds are above vindicators.

So after Belial, 3 typhoons, 6 deathwing squads and 3 preds Before you go for the elite choice deathwing I would look at the following:

dreads, I personally like them with twin linked lascannon as this fits well with the abundant missiles compared to the plasma cannon.
Scouts, they can hit things which is always fun never my first choice though.
Command squads the classic double melta with FNP in a drop pod does work.
Bike squads for the homers. I would never go for their landspeeder as it is not cheap and has short range which means you are giving a soft target to the enemy compared to the typhoons who can be hidden at the back. I would go the attack bike with squad though this is a free KP.
Then finally I would look at more typhoons they are too cheap to miss and squadron rules are not that bad and have some advantages.

I guess you are bringing the 7 squads to DWA with 4 which is a bit much without homers. I like to have the option but I tend not to use DWA as deepstrike rules are not great, the bikes can not scout that far and it leaves units off the board and it separates your army that can happily slowly walk together across the board.

Looks like a pretty solid Deathwing list.

Got to agree with some bikes and cml's. Personally I'd like landraiders in the list but that's preference it depends if you seek strike the terms or not I you don't a landraider could help out

Thanks for the help guys. I tried 3 vindicators out and really enjoyed the results. It allowed my terminators to focus on the enemies vehicles while the vindi's did the troop killing for the most part. It allowed me to kill killa kan orks at 2000.

I will however try out the preds and the land raiders... Only problem with land raiders is the point cost. The army is already sooooo expensive to run it almost seems like a waste of points to me.


How many dreads??? This would take away from the total squads of deathwing terms i could run. Thanks again guys.

Essentially Landraiders will not make your army mobile as you only can take three. However you have limited models and they limit you further by their price. Furthermore they limit the number of Vindis and preds. Sorry you are foot slogging deathwing it is the only way.

I am impressed that you beat and an ork kan wall. Only your vindis are designed for mass killing.

Yeah it was mostly incredible rolling on my part and poor rolling on his.. I did however catch him off guard with deathwing assault deep striking in his back lines. I dont think he was ready for that.

I am going to give the mixed th/ss with lcs a try. I dont know if i like the idea of only 2 lcs per squad though.

Has anyone tried Preds? Land Raider variants? Vindicators??


I have liked the vindicators so far, but if someone else has some insight that would be great to hear.
