We've got some new Starter Sets available for Heavy Gear Blitz:

First is the Black Talon Starter Army. The Black Talons are an elite striek froce pulled from various Terra Novan nations with the mission of taking the fight to the CEF.



This starter includes a Black Talon squad Operational Assistance Team (1 Owl C3, 1 Raptor Commando, 2 Vulture Heavy Gears) and a Dark Naga and plenty of weapon and equipment options. It also includes the small-format Field Manual Core Rule Book and a special small edition of Black Talon - Return to Cat's Eye with material from Shattered Peace and Terra Nova Gambit to allow Eden and Utopian allies. Also a measuring tape and dice.

Next is the CEF Starter:



In addition to the dice, measuring tape, and books as in the Black Talon set, this two LHT-71 "Prowler" Light Hovertanks, 2 HC-3A Hover Cars, and a platoon of FLAIL armored infantry drones.

The final new Starter Set for this month is the Utopian Starter Set. Utopia is a colony world that has mostly been conquered by the CEF and is sending their own troops out to attempt to earn their freedom. Utopia specializes in autonomous drone technology along with Armiger piloted light mecha.



Same books, dice, and measuring tape as the other sets. This box has two squads: An Armiger Automaton Control Recce Troupe and a
Armiger Automaton Control Support Troupe.

The Recce Troupe has two lighter recon Armigers and eight drones. The Support Troupe has two FS-101 Support Armigers and four Fire Support drones.

All three of these are intended as a great way to get into the game and get a 'core' for an fieldable force.

CEF Starter Army! *squee*

As a note, I just put together a super quick list using the contents of the CEF box and got 610 points before considering upgrades! However, you generally do need to add another squad of some kind to be 100% legal, which is fine for 1,000 point games.

I could see learning with this, then add a single HT-72 to bring the total up to 925, and that's still 75 points to spend on upgrades... At a minimu, there's Army Commander upgrades (Leadership and Defense) as well as giving the FLAILs some upgraded weapons for anti-tank capability.

Awesome, thanks for the helping push with that. I'm definitely looking at CEF as one of the two armies I want to collect. The other is likely going to be NuCoal... speaking of which... SPILL IT! lol

Well, either way, I'm definitely looking forward to them. I have to say that I've known about Dream Pod 9 for a long time and Heavy Gear as well, but those NuCoal models really made me take notice and honestly... I don't think there's a company on the market that has better looking miniatures than you guys do and I plan on giving you guys a fair chunk of my expendable income.

No idea at present. I've been dealing with some personal stuff, so other than a few nifty concept art pieces and some products coming out Real Soon Now, I haven't seen much of the NuCoal stuff.
