Ok, imagine this:
There has been a teleportation accident, and a lone SM has found himself stranded in the U.S desert. The Army finds out about this and send people to investigate. The SM, believing them to be traitors, kills them, which prompted the Army to send everything at him.
Who will win?
The Space Marine is of the Standard Variety, so no Black rage, Bionics, SW senses, psy powers, whatever

US, there will be some initial casualties, followed with anti-tank weapons or artillery.

Wait, a single Space Marine versus the entire US military? Is this serious?

It seems so. Let us point and laugh at the sad marine.

But the thing is...won't bolters be able to one shot tanks? I mean, it is a diamond tipped explosive charge. And there is always the enhanced strength...
Granted the marine will still lose...but by how much? Automatically Appended Next Post: iproxtaco wrote:No change in outcome.
tell that to Matt "Ultramarines are the best" Ward.

Well the Marine isn't stupid. He isn't going to survive by fighting whatever is sent his way by hitting them head-on. Low ammunition means he has to use other weapons, in the form of traps, rocks, camouflage. It would be like Rambo in the desert. I can imagine the Marine killing maybe about 100 marines, some small vehicles, before being captured.

Even if Bolter are able to explode tanks (I doubt it), there's plenty of them around. They also have guns that (I imagine) would outrange the bolter and are much maneuverable. Not to mention gunships...
Hell, even if a single rifle as little change of breaking a power armor, I would imagine several thousands round of ammunition aimed at it would eventually break it.
I suppose if the Marine could somehow get inside a military encampment and start slaughtering people there, thing would get hetic and a lot of us soldier would die... but it's only a matter of time before they bring out something big enough to kill him.
Other thing to consider - The Marine will have finite ammo. Once he's out of bolter round, he either has to pick up an enemy rifle (And I'm not sure how easy that would be to use with a power armor's glove) or go in close combat... sure, he's fearsome in CC, but that also means he need to close the gap to anything he wants to fight.

Except I don't think a guy in power armor is that hard to detect to begin with... he'll glow like a roman candle on thermal at night for one thing (We did say desert here).

Hmm ok. What if the Marine was say...a Grey Knight? No change, just a bigger body count?

No difference. A single Space Marine cannot take on the US army. Be it an Ultramarine, Grey Knight, Greymarine, Redmarine or whatever.

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."
