Hey everyone,
I've been playing 40k for about 3 or 4 years now, sticking with one army, Daemons.
I've semi-recently "finished" my Daemon army, and since when I originally started I was split between Daemons and Necrons (and because of the new codex) I've been getting really excited about starting Necrons.
I've been keeping up with all the rumors but I'm getting a bit confused. I've never started an army right with it's new codex so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to know what to pre-order without looking at a codex. I've got a good idea of all the new units and revisions to old ones, however, without knowing point costs I'm not sure how to do this, aside from just pre-ordering one of everything, haha.
So, any advice from people that have done this before?

Yes, do not pre-order.
Its the best way to do it.
check the codex out first, proxy a few games and see what you like, then buy the units that you like.

DR is right or you can always get what other people call as cheesy units, since they are usually ones that do well but get called cheese cause people just dont know how to deal with them. (like psyfleman dreadnoughts, purifier or paladin spams for GK )

I'm thinking you guys are probably right on the most part. I do think I'm going to go ahead and pre-order two things though. A box of immortals and a generic overlord.
The overlord, however raises another question. I'm looking at some of the leaked descriptions and am wondering, what do you guys think is going to come with the command barge? Here's the line that I'm talking about: "The Necron Catacomb Command Barge - a floating Throne from which your Overlord can give command to his troops. This kit may also be used to make the Annihilation Barge, and the Overlord model may be used as a standalone figure."
"...the Overlord model may be used as a standalone figure"
So does that mean that the command barge will come with everything included with buying a regular overlord do you guys think?

The command barge comes with an overlord model...if you decide to make a barge support, than you can use the overlord model however you wish...but I think it will only have 1 weapon option with it, probably the starting gear an overlord comes with...

Seems to me that the commander that comes with it will be pretty standard commander
