Hmm...wonder how out of time period that gothic building would look for FoW.

15mm stuff is getting awfully tempting...

Agree, that would look good as FoW terrain.

Posted this about 6 months ago, glad to see him getting more attention. Small one-man garage operation, all the stuff is plastic that he casts in a homeade injection-molding machine (check out his blog, it's pretty neat). I haven't gotten any of his 15mm models, but I LOVE the style he uses for his bases, I picked some up a while back and they're fantastic. Good to see the hex bases are finally out, I had asked if he would make some battletech stands in that style a while ago and he said he'd work on it, gonna have to place another order. Highly recomended.

I'd ordered a couple of the ruined buildings and a bunch of the 60mm bases and they arrived lightning quick.

The plastic is a nice heavy duty feel to it and they seem a lot stronger and more rigid than GW bases. The detail on the ruined walls is nice there's also some interior detal to them which is a nice addition. Painted they will look really killer.

Anyone know how the tanks would scale up as Epic super heavies?

I'm betting the buildings would work, too. The Epic ruins were over-sized anyway.

I just purchased a pack of chariot bases (50mm x 100mm) off Ebay from this fellow. Roughly the same height/thickness at GW's bases (~3mm) but due to having much thicker edges these bases are a tad heftier and seem tougher. Nicely pre-textured surfaces to boot. Overall they're excellent alternatives to GW's own. Drawbacks? Well the fact that you have to remove them off the sprue and cut off a tiny bit of flash on the underside of the base... not for the lazy or faint of heart... LOL! They also sport a faint 'plasticy' smell... but some people may actually be into that sort of thing.

The bottom line is four chariot bases cost me $4 + $4 shipping. That seems like a lot for some simple injected-mold plastic but considering the cost of buying them from GW, retailers, bits store or anyone else it's actually a very good deal. Apparently according to the founder of Proxie Models it's cheaper to simply buy the stuff from him direct instead of going through Ebay. I imagine the savings will come via cheaper shipping costs. As far as I know the only cost effective plastic base solutions come from Victrix which offers two different boxes of bases but given that Victrix doesn't produce 50mm x 100mm bases that didn't do me any good.

Overall these are great quality bases, I'm really glad I gave Proxie Models' offerings a shot! I strongly recommend you check them out.

It's really cool seeing his progress here:

http://proxiemodels.blogspot.com/

Looks like he's going to redo the tank molds and try doing some infantry (larger scale?) or female warriors? The CAD models look convincing...

He also mentions having posted a pic of one of them on Dakka and getting nice feedback, so he must be on here somewhere (not sure what his username is, though).

Will be watching for developments!

Here's a couple shots showing how the bases clean up. You can probably just snap them right off the sprue, but if you don't want to chance marring the base's lip you can make some quick cuts like this and you'll have a very clean edge.

1. The first step is to cut the center free, depending on the length of your clippers you may be able to skip this step.
2. Remove part of the straight sprue piece so that your clippers fit along side the base and can cut the joining piece.
3. Place the clippers so their flat side is along the bases edge and the angled section is against the sprue, trim and you're done.

All total maybe 10 seconds tops. Or you can saw the sprue off if you prefer.

Brand new bases on sprue:

1st Cut

2nd Cut

3rd Cut

Attachment point is very minimal and can be removed with a light filing or knife scraping.

I just received a bunch of bases from them (see pic!). 16 80mm, 32 40mm, and 96 25mm... enough for my entire army of alternative models, by far.

All for $28 + shipping

$4.00 per pack (8 of the 80mm, 16 of the 40mm, or 32 of the 25mm) is really hard to beat! Thanks Paulson for pointing these guys out and the walk-through on getting the bases off the sprue as I would never have known about them otherwise.

I think I may have to check these guys out. I need 25mm round bases to rebase my Mantic undead onto, and also for a whole bunch of historicals that came with squares...

I just ordered a similar amount, though I got 7 packs of the 25mm rounds to base all my Warlord and Gripping Beast Vikings and Saxons on as well. Hopefully they turn up before Christmas so I can have a busy January!

Thanks also to Paulson for the Proxie link!

Is that house 28mm in size, or is it part of the 15mm terrain they have? I am having a hard time envisioning the size based on their description..

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If the sprue pieces are the same size as on the bases (rather large) I think that's 25mm... although still a small house.

The house measures 3.5" long, 1.5" wide and 2.5" tall.

Looks like 15mm to me. Yay more FoW terrain

Thanks for sharing. Those textured bases look pretty cool, I'll have to pick some up for my next army. And the ruined buildings look good too, might order one or two and see if they work for 40k.

Columbus, Oh

I made an order from Proxie Models on Christmas Eve.. about 4pm ish.. I think..

Got it today! DAMN!

About the only (slight) issue I have is that the 60mm round bases I ordered are not the same as the GW 60mm round bases.. there is about a 2mm difference (Proxie models is smaller).

Now, this is not a big issue for me, as I wanted them for scatter terrain and objective building.. but some may care.

the 25mm and 40mm square bases were PERFECT though..

The new trencher tank with the multiple weapon options looks cool.

Would be really interesting to see it made in 28mm scale!

Proxie models posted in another thread to see how much interest there was in a 28mm version of the trencher. You should post there or contact him to let him know you're interested.

I found the ruined building's windows a bit big for FOW. They would work for an industrial mill or factory though.

The bases certainly rock!
