I've already asked one stupid question that probably had an obvious answer, so I figure I'll ask another one; do the Imperial Guard have Regiment Commanders/People in charge of a single Regiment? I looked on Lexicanum but I couldn't find a good answer.

They're called Colonels...
Though a Major could command a regiment and a Colonel could command more than 1 Regiment but usually it's one colonel for 1 regiment.

So is a Colonel like a better/more powerful version of a Company Commander? Also, thanks for the quick response.

It varies greatly by regiment, theatre, planet, etc etc etc.

Generally its like this, bottom up. Titles varies greatly.

Officers on the..
Squad Level
Platoon Level
Company Level
Regiment
General Staff
Lord General (planetary)
Lord General Militant (System/Sub-Sector/Large Formation)
Warmaster (All levels of command for specific theaters of war, navy and army.)

Thanks for another quick reply! So, I just want to make sure I have the Guardsman hierarchy correct. Is this right?

Guardsmen-Standard Grunt/Foot Soldier
Corporal-Second in Command of Squad
Sergeant-Squad Commander
Lieutenant-Platoon Commander
Captain-Company Commander
Major-Second in Command of Regiment
Colonel-Regiment Commander

That's pretty much it...

Alright, according to the Lexicanum page I have it right. Thanks again. I guess, unless it turns out I'm wrong, this thread no longer serves a purpose.

Sorry if this is a bit of a tangent...but why are there no NCOs in the Imperial Guard?

I mean Sergeants lead squads and Lieutenants lead Platoons...but where is the Pl 2IC? Or for that matter who is in charge of admin and supply for the Company if the Coy has not Sgt Major?

Know thy self. Everything follows this.

Sergeant is an NCO rank. So is Corporal. A Lieutenant is an officer. Anything higher than an LT is also of Officer rank.

A Sergeant-Major isn't in charge of anything Company-level. Battalion, at the least.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
